Not a stand alone

The first time I listened to the book, I was unthrilled by the plot line. In a lot of ways, it felt like this book was a passive plot line to link together sex scenes with none of my favorite characters from the rest of the series. It left me thinking "when does Jaun Claude get Anita again and what about the new and improved Richard and can we get rid of Asher yet." The reading was enjoyable, but the plot wasn't what I wanted.

Of course, then I had to go back and listen to the whole series from book 1 onward and realized that the book fits with the series. If you are looking for violence, sex, and violent sex the series is great, and this book continues the tradition. It brings in characters the come and go throughout other books without the shadow of the more central men. It continues to work toward developing the arcing conflict. It ties in some of the theories from the previous book. And while it will probably never be my favorite in the series, it was a good book as one installment in a great series.

That being said, I would said this is my number one series to recommend except the lack of an unabridged book 10. If you don't mind stopping half way through the series to read a paper book, get the whole series.

The End.

I liked the book and it was entertaining to listen to it. The neatly ties up the stories from the previous 2 books and resolves several other plot lines. Anita now has a good starting place for more adventures.

Never disappoints

I’ve been a long time fan of Anita and how she has evolved as a character. This book just ups her game and her insight into some of her lovers and her new powers. Fantastic read every time. I’ve read HIt list about 6 times. Thank you for sharing Anita and her men with us.

stupid special effects

I'm finding the added "mood music" and special effects (sounds) irritating and distracting. Who on earth thought it a good idea?! Otherwise, a good narration ...

Loved it!

Loved the story. Hated the music and sound effects! They kept distracting from the story and in some instances making it hard to hear the narrator.

Love it: again

This is the second time I’ve listened to it and I have to say that it was truly fantastic. From the different voices and inflections of Kimberly Alexis to the background music and sound effects, everything was exquisite. It really made it come alive for me.

Much better than previous books

This book is more like the early books in the series. This book, and Skin Trade, actually make sense and have a good plot unlike a few of the later books.
