After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea's whole existence is in shambles. She tries to put herself back together by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend. When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano-the male alpha of the Clan Bouda, and Andrea's former lover-die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate. Now she must work with Raphael as her search for the killer leads into the secret underbelly of supernatural Atlanta. And dealing with her feelings for him might have to take a back seat to saving the world.

As Always A Legendary Book

This Book Was Everything! I always feel a special Joy whenever I get to listen to or read a book from Ilona Andrews especially the Kate Daniels series!!! This series has always had an innate talent for utilizing every character and implementing them into the story seamlessly! not one side character or main character is neglected or lost in personality. everything be it action, fantasy and romance is perfectly balanced in a beautifully paced saga! I will reread these books and laugh my guts out!!! I've truly found a rare gem in this author!

Fun fantasy/mystery

this was a solid book especially if you're a fan of the Kate Daniels series. Constructed with excellent world-building and details, but is carried by solid mystery. if you're looking for an emotionally deep and complex book, this one may not be for you. But if you're looking for a fun and engaging read, it's worth picking up. it does take place in the middle of an already-established storyline, but this is more of a spinoff and it lets you jump Right in feet first.

Stellar!

First let me say that I haven't met an Ilona Andrews book that I haven't loved with all my heart, so no bias there... Her urban fantasy novels are fast paced, and always stellar! This one happens to be about Andrea, a spin-off character from Ilona's Kate Daniels series (which takes place in Atlanta GA, after magic has come back to the world)... Gunmetal Magic isn't written to necessarily be a stand-alone... There is a lot of history about Kate, Andrea, Raphael, and the Pack, that you would miss out on if you went ahead and grabbed it first... Andrea is one of my favorite characters in the series... where Kate is all about the magic and the sword, Andrea just needs a gun... The bigger the better! If you're familiar with Ilona's works, Gunmetal Magic won't disappoint! If you're not familiar with her stories, you should probably start with Magic Bites. I think you'll love Ilona's books as much as I do!
The narrator, Renee Raudman, was spot-on with an appropriately thick  southern accent!

I love Ilona Andrews.......

What made the experience of listening to Gunmetal Magic the most enjoyable?

Anytime I can get even the minor glimpse into Curren and Kate's lives I am happy. But I must say listening to Andrea accept her shifter side finally was long over due.

What did you like best about this story?

The wonderful mix between to plot and the romance.

Have you listened to any of Renée Raudman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she does well with the series. Not as impressed with her narration in Larrissa Ione's books. She is not as consistent between the voices in the book and the Kate Daniels series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes It was a long wait to hear Andrea and Rafael's story.

Loved Andrea's story!

I think my favorite part was listening to the narrator do the character's voices in warrior form. You can't get that reading a book!

Loved it

Andrea has always been one of my favorite secondary characters and I loved her story. She became the heroic women she is because of her past and what her future could become. The story is full of adventure and action galore, but also mystery, romance and magical moments. It is full of emotional moments, but never made me feel manipulated by the authors. My emotions flowed out of my real feelings for the characters. The narrator is superb.

Andrea Nash was way cooler in this book

I love the Kate Daniel’s series. This is more of the good stuff with Andrea and the team. She was really flushed out better. I enjoyed it.

Compelling, intense story.

I've yet to read a story by Ilona Andrews that I didn't love. This book is no exception. As always the worldbuilding is phenomenal, the storyline captivating, and the characters so real they could walk off the page and into life. A slightly different life than what we experience. They are that real.

Andrea has always been a kickass character. But in this story we really get to know her and what makes her tick. You can't help but love her. With Raphael, we find out that he is more than a sexy Bouda. He has more substance and brains than he has previously been given credit for. Not that he doesn't let his hurt feelings make him act like a complete jerk a time or three.

Add in some bad snake people, a god-like villain, more baddies, fighting, a bit of killing, and you get one heck of a story.

I highly recommend this book and the whole series. Best read in order. This is book 5.4 in the Kate Daniels series.q

Very Prejudice Review

I love this writer team. I love the series. They call this book a spin off because it does not feature the main romantic couple from the other books, but for those who have read any of the books after book 1, these are characters who have constantly been there and have independent, unique, and non-flattened personalities. This book is simply another great example of the solid writing style I expect from this author.

As for the reading, I enjoyed the entire performance. I love the consistency of having the same reader throughout the series. There is a wholeness, a consistency, with the performances that makes it easy to want to listen to the whole series everytime I think about listening to one of the books.
