Publisher's summary

Not even death can save her now. As a grave witch, Alex Craft can speak to the dead---she's even on good terms with Death himself. As a consultant for the police, she's seen a lot of dark magic, but nothing has prepared her for her latest case. When she's raising a "shade" involved in a high-profile murder, it attacks her, and then someone makes an attempt on her life. Someone really doesn't want her to know what the dead have to say, and she'll have to work with mysterious homicide detective Falin Andrews to figure out why.

Magic and Mystery in a Well Balanced Blend

there are a lot of fantasy mystery books out there, but many of them tend to focus for more heavily on either one side of that combination or the other. The Alex craft novels are one of the few exceptions I have read. An excellent mystery that will keep you guessing, full of magic and folklore, grave which manages to keep a wonderful balance while also being a thoroughly entertaining read. the Romantic aspects of the book are just enough to add a little spice, but unlike far too many novels of the sort they do not overwhelm or overtake the rest of the narrative. If you love both good mystery novels and urban fantasy books, I highly recommend the Alex Craft series.

Love this series

Too bad the author isn't writing any more. Took years for book 3 and i have no idea if there will be any more. Sigh. Still a fun read!

Sounded like a computer voice

I thought this book had a lot going for it, but just couldn't get itself together. The narrator has a wonderful rich voice, but she sounds "computerized " at times. A little annoying. The story has good potential, but again, just short of the mark. The MC never got herself together, even to the end really, and given that yummy man and she still behaves like a teenager? I'm not recommending this one.

Meh

This book had so much potential but in my opinion the narrator completely ruined it for me. I almost turned it off because of her but because I like the premise of the book, I kept going. It did get better towards the end.

Good book. Poor narration.

Loved the books when I read them. However, the narrator uses such a monotonous pattern of speech, it almost sounds like a computer is doing the narration. In several places it is actually jarring and pulls you out of the story.

Is the narrator drunk?

What did you like best about Grave Witch? What did you like least?

I have not finished this and am trying to hang in there, but wanted to jump on to warn others- the reviewers who said the narrator sounded like William Shatner are being kind. She sounds slightly drunk & the sibilant s's in her speech make me cringe. I feel sorry for the author because there may be a decent story here, but I'm having difficulty gettting past the stilted pronounciation to follow the plotline. I have an image of someone shoving her the pages as she's trying to read them. It really makes me angry for the writer and for us, the consumers, that the audio company can't be bothered to hire quality performers.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Haven't finished yet....

Would you be willing to try another one of Emily Durante’s performances?

No, no and NO

Do you think Grave Witch needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Not sure- get back to me if I finish this one.....

Any additional comments?

Tavia Gilbert & Lorelei King should start a training school for narrators.....Just saying.
