Publisher's summary

Feed is an electrifying and critically acclaimed novel of a world a half-step from our own that the New York Times calls “Astonishing” a novel of zombies, geeks, politics, social media, and the virus that runs through them all - from New York Times best seller Mira Grant.

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: Feed.

Now, 20 years after the Rising, Georgia, and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives - the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.

Unique Perspective, great story and characters

Most Zombie novels deal with the actual fall of civilization. This one picks up twenty years later, when a (sort of) equilibrium has been restored and society continues, just with wandering zombies. This is a unique story with a perfect balance of plot, detail, pacing and characterization. I won't spoil it by giving anything away, but this is one of the absolute best Zombie / Apocalypse novels I've read, and I've read a lot of zombie novels (who'd of thought?).

Kudos to both the author and performer. Great job.

Could have been better.

I loved, loved, loved the narrator for Gorgia! I listened for about 14 hours when I finally got the book from my library. I love the idea of journalism in a zombie infected world.
There were a few things I didn't like. I cried my eyes out when Buffy and Georgia died. Also when Mahir cried on Shauns shoulders.
I would've liked more zombie attacks and more outbreaks. Known more about the Kellis-Amberlee.
I wasn't so happy for Shauns narrator, that was why I was so happy with the book finally arriving!
I think it was very unessecery for Gorgia to die. Honestly that ruined a lot for me!
Overall, great book, loved the characters. A little sad with the few zombie attacks and outbreaks, but I've bought the second book, deadline. I have high hopes for it. Hope it meets my standards.

Amazing story, okay narration

I love the world built in Feed. It's so unique and with enough detail I don't feel lost. Sadly, the narrator lost me often. It felt as if she forgot the tone or inflection she gave the male characters so I found myself a little confused before the name was stated. Still a great listen though!

This is not a zombie book.

This is not a zombie book. Zombie horror readers, put the book down and walk away. They are in the background and used as weapons. The story is ok and the characters are amusing.

Welcome to blogging after the apocalypse!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. This is a zombie story but it isn't about the zombies! Mira Grant created a believable world where this might be what it would be like after having to live with the zombies for decades. I laughed, I cried and I raged right along with the characters.

What other book might you compare Feed to and why?

I can't really compare Feed to other zombie novels because it isn't really like them. It is more about the journalists on the campaign tour with a Presidential hopeful and just what happens to them to start making them question just about everything.

What does Paula Christensen and Jesse Bernstein bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They gave a voice to the two main characters that didn't jar me out of the setting of the book, instead those voices drew me further in.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Rise up while you still can.

Any additional comments?

I read this in book format and then tried the audio format. I was not sorry for it and I look forward to relistening to this book in the future!

Wow.......

I bought the book in paperback form and just couldn't get into it. But the audiobook....

First off, Mira has talent. Great writing. She does a great job of making different characters with different personalities.

And secondly, the narration is awesome. Georgia's character is very well narrated.

Well done.

Entertaining

I enjoyed the book, I really did. I was expecting more zombies, dont get me wrong, there were plenty of them, just not fighting or attacking or menacing, mostly political and social discussions of their effect on America. It seemed to be more of a young adult novel about political idealism and truth in journalism, set in a time of zombie strife; I was expecting World War Z in technological age.

I still recommend it, but while there are some surprises in the writing, its mostly straight forward and somewhat predictable.

Love this fresh approach

I really enjoy the Newsflesh series. I’m a zombie book lover and enjoy this series initially because of this. I stay for all of the additional story lines because the author has created a rich world with characters that are intriguing and well rounded. I well understand why this series has won awards. Those who like this unusual genre will be drawn in by this new refreshing look.

Great world building

This was some of the best world building I have ever read, and great ending.
