Publisher's summary

Audie Award Finalist, Paranormal, 2014

The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels our own, is shrinking, and if it disappears, so does all magic. It’s up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to fix the ever-after before the fragile balance between magic users and humans fails.

Of course, there’s also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, and her life is forfeit unless she can fix it. And that the most powerful demon in the ever after - the soul-eater Ku'Sox Sha-Ku'ru - has vowed to destroy Rachel, and has kidnapped her friend and goddaughter as leverage. If Rachel doesn’t give herself up, they will die.

Forced by circumstance, Rachel teams up with elven tycoon Trent Kalamack - a prospect fraught with dangers of the heart as well as betrayal of the soul - to return to the ever after and rescue those she loves.

Both worlds teeter on the brink, one on a possible interspecies war, the other for its very existence, and it’s up to Rachel to keep both from being destroyed.

Another Tantalyzing adventure

If you could sum up Ever After in three words, what would they be?

non stop action

What did you like best about this story?

Her continuous search for her limits of magical abilities and whether or not romance is in store

What about Marguerite Gavin’s performance did you like?

Ms. Gavin is so talented that you can individually detail each character.

Trent and Rachel -- It just doesn't get any better

This book bumps up the relationship I've been waiting for since Rachel squeaked in a cage in Trent's office. If you don't know what that means, just go back to the first book (Dead Witch Walking) and enjoy the complete journey. Kim Harrison's imagination is the best of the best, and Marguerite Gavin provides the unique voices and personalities for a whole bunch of old friends. I eagerly anticipated this book, and it delivered in spades!!!

Oh My Itchy Witch! Loved it!

What did you love best about Ever After?

I liked it all, but really loved the ending, Al was funny...Trent was sweet...and always Rachel was Rachel....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever After?

There were many, this book was more sad, than the others at least in my opinion, and when Ceri died...it really hurt my heart...I loved her...

Which scene was your favorite?

I really liked when Newt showed up to kill Rachel...it was funny...but the ending was my fave...I also loved what they did the girl from the museum....lol

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I did both...this book was funny, and sad...

Any additional comments?

In this installment there is not a whole lot of Ivy, which disappointed me a bit, not a lot of Jenks... But Plenty of Trent, and a good bit of Al... Rachel has grown sooooo much..I am interested to see where this series goes from here...

Not uncommon stupidity

Any additional comments?

5 by 5 by 5. Marguerite makes this story come alive as usual.
Kim wrote a great addition.
I am not sure how I got out of order, but I listened to 12 (The undead pool) before this one. 12 Aggravated me to no end for uncommon stupidity. In 11 (Ever After) the bad guys bests bests them through wit and ability. In 12, I really wanted Rachel to just die already so the rest of the characters in the story could move on and have a great series without epic stupidity

(I.E. sure let's trust this guy who has been saying he wanted you dead at every previous encounter. Maybe this time he is nice. Gawd idiotic. )

Anyway, enough about book 12. This one... excellent story line, excellent good guys. excellent bad guys (you really want to hate them all), great twists and turns.
I realize Harrison does not actually read these reviews, but pretending she does... Kim, please, re-re-read this one to see how you should do them and then re-re-read 12 to see how you absolutely should NOT. Rachel is a train wreck but not stupid.

Finally! Rachel Grows Up!

Would you consider the audio edition of Ever After to be better than the print version?

Absolutely! The vocal characterizations helped give the story depth.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever After?

The hunt for Ku Sachs

Have you listened to any of Marguerite Gavin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This one is much better than the Kitty... stories.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me sigh with relief. If I have to hear one more angst-ridden main character, I'll scream. I think it's because I'm getting older.

Any additional comments?

Best book of the entire series. And I should know: I've read them all.
