Publisher's summary

In the dark, fear and desire are one.... Alexander Roman wants nothing to do with the controlling rulers of his vampire breed or the family he escaped from a hundred years ago. But as a new threat to the pureblood vampires emerges, Alexander's ties to the past are forced upon him again, and without warning, he finds himself - disoriented, terrified, and near death - at the door of a stranger.

Dr. Sara Donahue is dedicated to removing the traumatic memories of her patients - like those of the stranger at her front door. But what he tells her of his past is too astonishing to believe. Yet she has seen his flesh scarred by the sun and witnessed his inhuman strength. And never before has she felt so connected to a man.... But as their worlds collide, Sara and Alexander are bound by something stronger, as one becomes hunter and the other, prey.

Not Worth Reading!

I was very disappointed in this book. The plot was predictable, and the characters had no depth. Even the love scenes were vanilla, and the author’s use of the “c” word during them really turned me off. I was looking for a good vampire/romance series, and apparently I need to keep looking.

happy it was free

Tavia Gilbert is an amazing narrator, I listen to almost all her work, and not even she could save this book. the best part about it was the end, because it was over. The story line is weak, the plot is ridiculous. A huge waste of time and money!

Narrator good, story not so much.

No desire to continue series. Too many made up silly names for the same thing, story wasn’t there. I did finish it, but wish I would have chosen something else.

Cool Plot. Poor Execution.

The story line was a cool idea, taking some old bits of vampire lore and mixing them with new inventive ones, but the execution was poor.

Though the author clearly tried, the characters remained undeveloped to me and I couldn't really bring myself to care about any of their concerns. So the story sort of trundled along from one occurrence I didn't care about happening to another, with little bits of lukewarm, at best, erotica in between.

I think my lack of interest in those scenes could be attributed to: A) The author's regular and frequent use of c**t and c**k. B) My lack of interest could be because I could never care about the characters. C) Tavia Gilbert's performance was sort of creepy, her male voice is unnerving and, particularly the main male, sounds like a girl trying to be a guy serial killer. The vocalization of the main girl isn't much better, she vacillates between what sounds like hysteria and exhibitionist o sounds, and often both at once, terrible, really. And D) Mostly I think the scenes felt canned and forced.

Really, that may go for the whole book. It is already a short book and, really, it could have been much shorter. Everything that happens is dragged out and stuffed with filler, including very obvious set-ups for future books. I mean, honestly, how many times must you allude to or just blatantly say "eternal" and "hunger"? We get that's what the title it about, now stop describing everything either by temporal qualities or its edibility! The book dragged and really, I only finished it because I wanted to see if I was right about the very obvious ending, which, of course, I was.

Really, it was pretty nauseating. Don't waste your credit.

In my library for a long time

Well, I finally got too this book and thank goodness I am done. Lots of characters and vampires done in a different way but, I found the story shallow. A good amount of sex but, not great sex. This series will be a skip for me.
Tavia Gilbert narration was good.

Unpleasant Narration

What would have made Eternal Hunger better?

Better narration.

What didn’t you like about Tavia Gilbert’s performance?

Her reading of the male characters was almost a caricature of a woman imitating a man's voice in a high school play. It was over-the-top and incredibly grating. It made it so difficult to focus on the story that I couldn't bring myself to even finish the last half of the book. I'm extremely disappointed that she seems to read for some of my favorite authors, as I can't see myself purchasing their audiobooks due to her narration.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I'm sure it did, but for me they were completely eclipsed by the terrible narration. I do feel that I probably would have finished the book if the narration was better or if I was reading it rather than listening to it.

Please DO NOT Waste a credit on this!

This was my first and ONLY book by this author and it was so bad that I know I will never get another. Not sure why the other ratings are so high.

I couldn't get into this one

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No

Would you be willing to try another book from Laura Wright? Why or why not?

Don't know.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tavia Gilbert’s performances?

No

Was Eternal Hunger worth the listening time?

No

Any additional comments?

I wanted something that I had not read first and I thought this one sounded interesting, plus the reviews. But I think after listening to Peter Petkof (SP) in the "Immortals After Dark" series, no one can deliever as he did. I truely felt this narration to be over acting and it over shadowed my interest in the story aside from narration. I think I lasted only two or three chapters into it. To me, this was not that good of an audio book.
