Publisher's summary

The multiple-award-winning science-fiction master returns to the universe that is his greatest triumph - the world of Hyperion and The Fall ofHyperion - with a novel even more magnificent than its predecessors.

Dan Simmons's Hyperion was an immediate sensation on its first publication in 1989. This staggering multifaceted tale of the far future heralded the conquest of the science-fiction field by a man who had already won the World Fantasy Award for his first novel (Song of Kali) and had also published one of the most well-received horror novels in the field, Carrion Comfort. Hyperion went on to win the Hugo Award as Best Novel, and it and its companion volume, The Fall of Hyperion, took their rightful places in the science-fiction pantheon of new classics.

Here, Simmons returns to this richly imagined world of technological achievement, excitement, wonder and fear. Endymion is a story about love and memory, triumph and terror - an instant candidate for the field's highest honors.

A Good continuation to a fascinating tale.

It's an interesting follow up to the last sequel. The new characters were fun and relatable. compared to the last 2 books this seemed more like an adventure novel compared to the usual mystery and suspense. The plot was still good and enjoyed the twists and turns.

A great story

It has a more light hearted tone to the story compared to the first two in the series, but I still really enjoyed it.

Characters seemed real and identifiable

The story line. The character develop. The ideas presented. The pace of the story. The performance of the writing.

Should really be 5 stars

I've read (with my eyes) Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion. I listened to Endymion and I must say it was a pleasure to do so. Great naration, great story. Captivating all the way.

I've listened to many audiobooks, and this one ranks in the top 10.

Incredible

You never know with a series if the writer(s) can hold the story together and can continue with the momentum they started with. Dan Simmons has stayed strong and continues to deliver a great story. The narrator was absolutely excellent.

Greatest Sci Fi

Ever. The experience is sooooo good. Dan Simmons is amazing at allowing the reader to live in another world, it feels almost as if I’ve farcasted myself! Beautifully expressed by Victor Bevine- so much better than TV. I’m so hooked! Can’t wait to continue my journey into the last book of the Cantos!

An excellent continuation

I would first like to point out that this is the 3rd book of the Hyperion Quartet. One must first read Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion before continuing on to Endymion and Rise of Endymion. This book picks up beautifully where Fall ends carrying on the vast epic tale onto the next generation. Bevine does a beautiful job clearly enunciating foreign words and names, as well as vocalizing clear distinctly different voices for all of the characters.

A must read for all Science Fiction fans.

Very different from Hyperion and FoH, but great

What did you love best about Endymion?

It's a great story!

What did you like best about this story?

It was very interesting. I could listen to it for hours.

What about Victor Bevine’s performance did you like?

Victor nailed it. The one thing I really loved about Hyperion was how many voice actors there were in the audiobook. That really helped bring the characters to life. However, Bovine managed many distinct voices for all the characters of the story all by himself. He did a remarkable job.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Get the audiobook.

Any additional comments?

Endymion is very different from Hyperion, but still very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Still awesome sci-fi world. Story is a bit lacking

With all new protagonists and new characters, the book starts a bit slow. It takes a while to feel anything for the new characters but Dan Simmons does a great job keeping the listener interested with his fabulous fantasy world. His universe has so much capability and potential for great adventures. Aenea and Endymion get interesting a quarter way into the book and their adventure gets exciting. The terminator style showdown that happens in the end is one of the best I have read. The book ended very well and I'm excited to pick the next(last) one. I'm hoping for the series to end with more climaxes and a fitting end to a great story. I wish the Nemis character was introduced a little before in the book than in the last quarter.

Excellence in sci fi narrative continues!

If the first book, Hyperion was a modern Syfy telling of the Canterbury tales, then here we have wonderful elements of Huckleberry Finn, Edgar Allan Poe, and other literary flavors brought together in Syfy fantastic nature. This is an excellent continuation of one of the best modern sci fi books I’ve ever read
