Editorial reviews

With a full cast production, this highly-entertaining dramatization of the award-winning military science fiction story Ender's Game will wow fans as well as listeners new to this classic. Using an original screenplay written by Orson Scott Card himself, the audioplay takes listeners through Battle School with prodigy Ender Wiggin.

The cast fleshes out their characters with full personalities and motivations - in particular, the actors who portray the children at Battle School do a wonderful job in bringing out their precociousness and fading innocence. The action scenes are brisk and electrifying, and listeners will be swept up in the events of the story.

Good story

However unless you are someone who thrives on military scheming, finishing it is a struggle. Several times I wanted to just hang it out to dry. The cast did their best performances with a sometimes monotonous script. The fact that I stayed through speaks well of the author's tale.

Bizarre - Cuts Major, Important

If this is your first experience of Ender’s Game, STOP. THIS IN NOT THE ORIGINAL BOOK. Go find the original.
*********SPOILER**********- I’ve read and listened to books many times. What they added and removed seemed unfortunate to me. Only -barely- mentioning Locke and Demosthenes leaves out about half of the book, both literally and meaning. The book wasn’t just about the battle. It wasn’t just about genocide, it was about humanity killing ourselves and the aftermath or this war. Without that side of the book, this whole experiment failed.

Better than the movie

It left a lot out and changed a few things. You still need to read the whole book to get the full experience.

Read Enders Game First

definitely only read this if you've already read Enders Game.
I had a bit of trouble following at first simply because I had to figure out who was talking. it's been a while since I read Enders Game

Good, not Great

Wish they would have stayed with the original story instead of changing the sorry. Still good though.

An awesome adaptation of Ender's Game!! Loved it!

I have always loved Ender's Game and the whole Enderverse. I have also read the book almost ten times. I listened to this audioplay with almost no expectations but with full knowledge of how it fits into the Enderverse. Orson Scott Card managed to rewrite the story in a really convincing way making it fun and informative for even his hardcore readers. His delivery of narration through dialogues and the proper sound effects was quite good. He used the advantage of hindsight to tweak the story and the characters allowing any listeners to nicely segway into First Meetings or Speaker for the Dead. The performers did a great job in portraying the innocence and the emotions of the characters as they develop through the story. The only reason for me to knock the one star was because the kids are played by adult voice actors. If you get over it, you will love it.

Excellent

I loved this because it is not your traditional military SF. It was very good.

Very good performance but leaves some story out

If you've read the book, you'll notice quite a few things glossed over or clarified versus how the original story was written. But very good performance and I loved having this classic story in another media! I've watched the movie, read the story in English and Spanish, and this was a good other way added in.
