"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Darkness falls… despair abounds… evil reigns… Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix. Now Eragon must travel to Ellésmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems. Before long, Eragon doesn’t know whom he can trust.

Will the king’s dark hand strangle all resistance? Eragon may not escape with even his life. . . .

But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. A good to very good book.

His style of writing and the way some characters portray themselves shows the author is kind of fruity. But a good good move the less. I just find it annoying. The reasoning of the characters sometimes.

Great book and great performance!

I did not like the speakers interpretation of dragon voices however, I found it annoying and not majestic as I imagined

Very exciting!

I love this book! the reader does a great job with each character. I am not a fan of the voice for Saphira buuut I was able to look beyond that. Definitely plan to listen again.

Great book, okay narration.

Would you consider the audio edition of Eldest: The Inheritance Cycle, Book 2 to be better than the print version?

No, personally I prefer the printer version over this narrators voice.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His choice of how Saphira and the other dragons sound is jarring and it is a bit upsetting how similar they sound to the Urgals.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

As far as the story goes, yes. It is a fantastic story i have read and listened o multiple times, and each time it is just as engaging as the last. As far as the audio goes, no. The narrators voices of magical creatures are just not pleasing to the ear.

I liked how the narrator did different voices for different characters.
I would recommend this to my friends family and cousins

Great book. Like the others in this series!

Hard to believe that Christopher Paolini was only 15 years old when he started writing the Inheritance Cycle. Great series of books. Avoid the movie like it is the plague though. It will only make you mad! ;)

Daughter is sad we have short commutes now

Simply amazing, the movie was a sour fart to the majesty of the books. Can't wait to start the next.
