"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Darkness falls… despair abounds… evil reigns… Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix. Now Eragon must travel to Ellésmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems. Before long, Eragon doesn’t know whom he can trust.

Will the king’s dark hand strangle all resistance? Eragon may not escape with even his life. . . .

That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Eldest was even better then book 1. So much maturity and wisdom as Eragon continues his journey.

P good

The narrator is pretty good and I've gotten used to the grating voice the narrator uses for saphira and gladre. Either way, the book is very good. I loved listening to it. It was more political this time around but it wasn't anything annoyingly complex. It's a must read. The more you hear saphira's voice the more you get used to it.

Second time around.

Read this and the rest of the series when it first came out, was nice to sit back and listen to it. Must admit I either forgot some of it or missed some of it first time around.

amazing book

this book was amazing I've been here reading all of them and I've read them again and again and again and will continue to read them over and over again I completely love this series. The only problem i have with this book is the dwarf politics when the were electing a new king. sometimes those are hard to get through.

Overall a very good book.

I genuinely enjoyed this book. It is much better than the first book, and even though it is full of well-known tropes, it is entertaining non the less.

Gerard Doyle is a good narrator, but sometimes he talks a bit fast, and some of the voices are a bit wierd.

I've lost count of how many times I've read this series, I love the story-line. This the second time I've listened through it and definitely will not be the last! Gerard Doyle does a fantastic job reading it, I love his voice. Easy listen!
