Darkness falls… despair abounds… evil reigns… Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix. Now Eragon must travel to Ellésmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. A Great book

Really one of these books that pull you intensively in to their story and world. The narrator sounds great, with a warm voice and enthusiasm for the story. I didn't quite like the choice of voice for the dragon but over all this preformance still diserves my 5 stars.

Wonderful story, descriptive, engaging, heroic!

The story is told from two points of view, from Eragon and Roren's adventures. There is love and heartbreak, death and hope. Can't wait to hear the next book.

A favorite from my childhood, and my adulthood

I read these books when they were released as a teen and loved them. Now that I am older and have revisited them in audio format I can say that while it is obvious they are intended for a younger audience, they still hold up extremely well.

If you are a fan of fantasy books and on the fence about these, just do it. You won't regret it

The best of the inheritance cycle.

Eldest shows the transformation of Era gonna becoming a true rider and a man. This is by far the best book of the four that make up the cycle. The voice of Gerard Doyle also goes so well will the story. I have finished this series 5 or 6 times, all 4 books, and it still doesn't get old while driving down the coast.

The first half drags on a bit but the end is good

Understandably the first half drags on due to eragons wound and his needed training but once that is completed his story and rorans story quickly pick up pace bringing us to an entertaining end of the book. Now it is on to the next book

Wonderful story & performance

What made the experience of listening to Eldest: The Inheritance Cycle, Book 2 the most enjoyable?

It's a great story & it's read very well.

What about Gerard Doyle’s performance did you like?

He's so talented with changing his voice to fit the characters.

Any additional comments?

I just wish the recorded quality was better. I was expecting better from Audible. It was not as good as the CD we bought for book 1.
