Dune Messiah

Herbert is brilliant. If you listen closely you will understand. The narrators do a wonderful job and make it very entertaining, IMHO. 5 stars and highly recommended! Enjoy!!

Mediocre in Comparison

The sequel fails to live up to its Namesake. They have lost voice actors for the Fremen and others, and now basically everyone sounds like Paul. Very disconcerting

Fantastic

it was a interesting to switch between 3 narrators but they were all great. Wish the book was longer for sure

Ties a bow onto a masterpiece

After finishing Messiah, you realize that the original Dune story was 3 parts of a 4 part story. Once you finish Messiah, the Paul Atreides story is concluded and the universe opens up to further exploration.

more drama short book.

good book I loved the first dune but this one lacks something that made the first one so mystical throughout, I still highly enjoyed and would recommend. one if my biggest downsides was that the book jumps 10 years after the conclusion of dune and slightly summarizes what happen in that time

Slower and more philosophical than the first book

Noticeably slower progression of the plot than the first boo, and the plot itself is much thinner. A lot more philosophical musings, which are still in line with the style and themes. Overall it was an enjoyable read, but it’s not for everyone.

Narration quality is good but narrators taking turns to read different chapters is distracting - would have preferred a single narrator or actual role based reading.

Herbert, and all narrators have done it again.

All in excellent form, though I only recognize three of the narrators. Simon and Scott are particular stand -outs, though Simon takes up much of the narration, one of my favorite audio book narrators. Plan to hear more in this series in the future.

Disappointing

Muddy storyline. Paul’s motivations unclear and too much wordy philosophizing by all characters. Don’t think I will listen to the third in the series.

Good but Prechy

The storyline and audio performance was good but there were times when the monologs would drag on and become preachy. Some like that but I don't have the attention span for a page and a half of character internal monolog. Good story, just long.
