NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Great book but …

Dune is a great ACI- if book known and loved by many (read it when I was in grade 10). They did a dis-service having it read by so many.

great book but..

the only complaint I have about this is the production. for some reason after chapter 11 it goes every other chapter with or without the voice actors. it definitely can become confusing bc the narrator voices don't match the voice actors when this happens, obviously. I don't understand why it does this. overall the performances were great though

Great book. Great production.

I loved listening to this production. The narration, music & sound effects really set the tone. After reading some of the negative reviews I was hesitant to buy this but was reading the book & really wanted to listen to it for pronunciation & to be able to go about my day continuing in the world of Dune when I was unable to read a book (driving, cleaning house) I don’t understand what the negative reviewers are talking about— I loved this audible book.

Frank Herbert - Great world builder, not a great writer

First off, I’m not going to be overly critical. Herbert is a renowned author and has provided a huge addition to the science fiction genre. However, if you’re well-read or know good storytelling in literature, you’d admit he’s not a great writer. He’s very rigid where there should be some fluidity. For instance, the character dialogue is all pretty much the same. No dynamic speech patterns or lingo or anything.

The world building Herbert infused into his world was incredible, and for that alone its a great read.

Slow burn

With the release of the movie I wanted to read dune before I actually watched it. I’m very happy I decided to pick the audio book as the studio did a great job narrating it. I felt like the beginning of the book was very slow and almost difficult to get interested in but as the story progresses it becomes very enthralling. If you pick this book up please do yourself a favor and read until the end.

Not quite the book complete but still very well done.

A good listen. Well produced, good voice acting and it didn’t edit out hardly any of the original material.
