Publisher's summary

Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal-registration act, times haven't been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.

That's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black - and things really start getting ugly. Chicago's mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for vampires and humans alike.

Worth It!

This book made it worth continuing the series after the past book and I'm glad that I didn't stop this series.

Thank goodness!!

Loved the book, but...

I adore this series. I listened to the first one a few months ago, and then listened to books 2-5 in about three weeks straight. In some ways, this book was my favorite. The character development was solid, the pace was unrelenting, and there were major changes in the world. But I new who the villain was by about a quarter way through the book. I still enjoyed it, but I wish I hadn't seen it coming. There were a couple good twists, and as I said, I did love this book. Definitely worth the listen.

Standing tall

We find Merit doing her absolute best trying to deal with the aftermath of Ethan death. Jonah is there for her as her partner as they try to find the source of the destruction of Chicago while dealing with everyone who hates and blames them for everything. Chloe Neill story is awesome and keeps you wanting more. cynthia Holloway does a fine job of storytelling.⚘⚘⚘

Really good book!

At first I felt some type of way because I thought something was missing with Ethan not being in the book. The book was actually really good though and the ending surprised me a lot! In this book Merit tries to move on but continues to protect her house. I say every time a write a review about these books, but Merit is so strong. She never gives up and I love it. This book is definitely worth a read.

A new author has been added to my favorites

Although at first I was not sure about the narrator, she managed to bring the emotions in the story. What I love the most about the story is how it managed to keep the listener involved by a story unique on its own away from formulaic drama. I am also glad that the author did not need to use descriptive sexuality in order to be able to efficiently describe the emotions of the moment.

The story carried moments of uncertainty about what will happen next. Some unexpected events, which I will not spoil by mentioning them, may make you mad, sad, happy. You just cannot stop listening because you needed the author to somehow make the sad and mad moments away (which she did) and prolong the happy one (which she also did.) Chloe Neill is awesome and I cannot wait to start listening the next book on this story.

Loved it! Thank you Chloe Neill and Cynthia Holloway for a great job!

gettin goood!

i love this series! however, i have to wonder~ not only does the author undoubtedly use the word 'undoubtedly' way too often, but the narrator mispronounces it each and every. single. Time. ... maybe that's why after this book, she is narrator no longer...

Great Series

Where does Drink Deep rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a great book. I've enjoyed the entire series. This is Book 5, and it was as good as the previous 4. Immediately bought the next book in the series when I finished this one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Drink Deep?

Spoiler... Loved when the Master was brought back.

Which character – as performed by Cynthia Holloway – was your favorite?

Love them all.. even the ones I love to hate

Any additional comments?

This book is good. There are times it reads a bit slow, but that's a small issue. I enjoy the narrator. I'm worried about Book 6, because there is a new narrator for the rest of the series. Here's hoping that she is as good as this one. :(
