Summer has come to Krynn, a summer unlike any before. The sun bears down on land and sea, searing the world with relentless light and heat. Clouds and rain are nowhere to be found, and even the darkness of night brings little relief from the strange and oppressive day.
Meanwhile, those who commune regularly with their gods are uneasy. Every day, their deities become more distant, more difficult to reach. Clerics' prayers go unanswered, and magic goes awry. As the tension on Ansalon builds, estranged cousins Palin Majere and Steel Brightblade search for an explanation. It soon becomes evident that more than just magic is at stake. The fate of all Krynn hangs in the balance.

I still get a tear from this book. The story started so long ago will always have a place in my soul and this ending was as all endings, bitter-sweet.
You must be old enough to believe in evil, knights, dragons, magic, and true love!
You can't beat Peter mcnichol
He put emphasis on some of the wrong words. Not Peter but passable for sure.
Dragonlance has always been one of my favorite novel series however being an adult now I have very little time to sit and read. having Dragonlance all of my favorite ones even the ones I've read available to me in audio format being read as masterfully as they are is a real treat and I can't Express how happy I am that audible now carries Dragonlance. an amazing performance by the narrator, No monotone and you can tell who's talking. If you purchase this audio book I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have
I liked the light hearted feel of the entire book. It is a book that is for all ages.
I really enjoyed how they showed that not all draconians were monsters and they were people like everyone else with needs, wants, honor, dishonor, etc.
I absolutely love Paul as a narrator! He brings so much character to a story with his radical voice changes and he keeps a great tempo for the story! I love all of his work!
Sometimes you have to club a seal with a kitten
Yes. Boehmer is a great narrator and got me to purchase the whole series.
Yes, the story writing is good. I wish they hadn't brought the most annoying character, Tas the assling, into this book. There was to much focus on Tas and really took a lot away from the story.
Not really a character per se but the narration of the story, outside the dialog, was wonderful.
Yes, Boehmer makes you think your listening to many different people.
Yes- wonderful story - some of my favorite characters were in it as well as new ones I loved (some of their sons!)
The stories Weis and Hickman write together are always amazing and Boehmer did a wonderful job reading it. What I liked best . . . That is too hard to say.
His voice! Its perfect for the story and when he changes it for the characters it seems natural and adds to the story rather than distracts from it. Not to mention he has a really nice voice to listen to.
It had parts that were sad and because I know these characters from other books I did laugh at things they did (especially Tas).
I have an issue with the idea that this is called Chronicles Book 4. It does not have all the same main characters, it is 20+ years later, and a different war!
But it is still a great story.
the man with the plan
It depends on whether or not they had read the books that actually come between "Spring Dawning" and "Summer Flame". This book ties up a lot of loose ends and kills off a lot of characters that were alive and well in the last book. Unless you read the Legends series of books at the very least, you will be grasping for answers as to what the unending references by the characters mean. This book really should have been written so it could be the start of a new series or a one off rather than the end of a series that ended just fine with the 3rd book.
Yes, but with the stipulations I pointed out above.
Nothing. Performance was animated but not very engaging.
The death of one of the Heroes of the Lance. You'll know.
This book should have come with a disclaimer as it alludes to so much that the reader/listener will not understand unless they read some of the spin off series like "Legends". The book does fine with its own story and the new characters are woven into the universe well enough that they are viable but its like we get all these flashbacks from Tas and others that make no sense until you have the grounding of the other books.
More filled out, less jumping around.
I have none.
World killing, Kryn has been through enough!
The ones before were better.
But book one left me feeling I had missed a book or two...
"It's time to toss the Dice"
A story I read when I was a teenager just as good as I remember. An okay performance and a good Series of books.Worth a listen when all the Great stories run out or if your just stuck as to what you'll read next.
"Worth spending the time on."
if you want to get the most out the this great well told story make sure you listen to the prequels first. autumn, winter , spring and second generation at least.
