Publisher's summary

Teri and Phil had never needed their own personal god. But when Phil is passed up for a promotion - again - it's time to take matters into their own hands. And look online.

Choosing a god isn't as simple as you would think. There are too many choices; and they often have very hefty prices for their eternal devotion: blood, money, sacrifices, and vows of chastity. But then they find Luka, raccoon god of prosperity. All he wants is a small cut of their good fortune. Oh - and to crash on their couch for a few days.

Divine Misfortune is a story of gods and mortals - in worship, in love, and at parties.

Simply Divine (I couldn't resist)

This is a hilarious, funny, touching, and all-around wonderful story. I laughed out loud and got angry and sad and happy and all-in-all was completely enthralled. What a great audiobook!

Fun and easy listen!

My wife and I really enjoyed this story during several extended car trips. The plot is chock full of wit and moves quickly, all while keeping the listener engaged. If you're looking for a fun and easy story to listen to, this is it.

A clever, entertaining read.

I really enjoyed this book, although the story became somewhat derivative towards the end. Overall however, I found this very entertaining. And I would read something else by this author again.

great story and amazing performance

the book was amazing to begin with but the audio performance is fantastic the artist does every voice so well and you really can't tell the difference between the characters and the emotions behind this performance

Self aware, clever, and downright funny.

This is my second A. Lee Martinez book and the theme of putting a twist in common archetypal stories definitely stands out. Every corner of this story is engaging and thoughtful and somehow finds the balance of calling out a stereotype without hitting you over the head with it. 10/10 would read again.
Along with Fred Berman narrating each character has its own personality and easily stands out from one another. Sometimes, I didn't even know it was the same person doing all the voices. His performance really brings a color and character to this piece of art.

Day Off Fun

On my days off, I do all the work that piled up while I worked. As I do chores, run errands, and wait for appointments, I listen to audio books. A. Lee Martinez has become one of my favorite writers. Unexpected subjects, plot twists, gods, aliens, or bigfoot are the mark of Martinez. Tongue firmly in cheek anything is possible

Worthy fantasy humor. I loved it.

If you like Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, Robert Asprin, Christopher Moore or Terry Pratchett, then this is a mug of ale or glass of wine from the same brewery my friend. Some good ol' light-hearted fun.
