Interesting take on vampires

This book was recommended to me by Audible so I decided to give it at try. It's definitely paranormal romance in case you're unclear by the cover art but it's not overdone with sexual encounters and has a solid story line. The female main character is strong and holds her own given the circumstances but doesn't go too far as to be unbelievable. She makes smart rational decisions even in panic induced situations. I like the dynamic between vampires and immortals but would like a little more explanation. I also wish they had explored the secondary story line a bit more. Overall this was a good listen and the voice actor did a decent job at having distinguishing voices.

Unexpected

I very much liked this book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

humor, love, and action

liked that Sarah was strong in her own right without being an immortal. There always seems to be torture or betrayal in Dianne's books that I could do without, but it does work to show the resilience of the characters. Luckily, this book didn't have too much of that (briefly read about Roland's past and Ami's experience). What this book did have was a lot of humor, love, and action. I'll definitely reread this again.

Ignore the preachy feeling...

I need to admit that I read this title for the first time when it first came out. Since that time, I've read every single title that has been released in this series. When I first read Darkness Dawns, I would not have anticipated picking up anything else because of the preachy tendencies in this first book. Don't get me wrong, I'm a vegetarian myself and am firmly in the camp of folk who believe we need to be better stewards of this Earth but even I felt my eyes rolling back into my head at the constant grandstanding. This is pretty much the only title in the series where you'll have this feeling.

I'm only telling you this because you're really going to want to read this one then keep going no matter how annoyed you might be after reading. The series is really entertaining and you WILL become invested in the characters. Duvall writes more like a screenwriter so you're going to get some setting description you won't find necessary (this person is sat next to this person across from this person who is next to that person) because it has no bearing on the plot but I'm telling you you're going to want to ignore the annoyances and keep going!

Also, Kirsten Potter narrates the entire series so you'll have continuity in the characters.

Its a romance ride

I was unable to stop listening. This story was captivating from the very beginning to the end. I read some of the reviews prior to purchasing this book and I am happy I didn't pay attention to the 2 stars reviewers. I love the characters and how realistic they were regardless of its paranormal twist. The heroine is strong and funny. She loves deeply the one man she cares about. He is not a vampire as explained in the story but rather an immortal 😉. Get your fill and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Wonderful - Addictive - Perfect Romance

This book had me hooked in the first chapter. Narrator was captivating and volume changed as if it was a real conversation. Romance is balanced, steamy, and sweet. Finally found a book that had a perfect balance of story and romance. Will be keeping this series bookmarked and look forward to finding other books by this author.
