It's been three months since former enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon and the notorious assassin Sicarius thwarted kidnappers and saved the emperor's life. The problem? Nobody knows they were responsible for this good deed. Worse, they're being blamed for the entire scheme. With enforcers and bounty hunters stalking them, and the emperor nursing a personal hatred for Sicarius, it's going to be hard to earn exoneration.
When Amaranthe's team discovers mutilated bodies in the city aqueducts and a mysterious illness incapacitates thousands of citizens, she and Sicarius see an opportunity to solve the mystery and prove their loyalty. But they'll have to defeat vengeful shamans, man-eating predators, and deadly mechanical constructs, all while dodging imperial soldiers who would rather kill them than accept their help.
Nobody said exoneration would be easy.

Definitely, the author has a gift for snappy dialog which is always going to play well on an audiobook
The team dynamics were interesting and well thought out and again some truly killer dialog
This series is the first I've listened to but I thought she did a credible job
This is not a perfect story by any means but it is thoroughly enjoyable which for an audiobook counts a lot more. Worth a listen
Lindsay has become my top favorate author, she writes with much passion and wit that I re-read all her works. She is a new author and very talented bettre than most. Would like to see her as a best selling author.
Her books are page turners, her characters are fantastic, she makes her characters real in your mind. What else would you expect from a book??????
Shows Lindsay's emotion in her books
The main character bringing togeather a group of people
I canno't thank Lindsay enough for what she has done for my heart. She has helped open it again.
I am a huge Emperor's Edge fan and have read all of the books in the series. I have been impatiently waiting for them to come out on Audiobook so that I could have them in both hard copy and Audio. The narrator who read this book was horrible in my opinion. Her voice never changes with the characters, and it sounds like she hasn't mastered the ability to infuse emotion into her voice. The entire book bleeds together in one tone and inflection. About the only good thing that I can think of about the narrator of this book is that she enunciates well. Did no one listen to this AudiioBook before it was released? Lindsey Buroker is such an amazing writer that I can't believe that she would pick this person to deliver her book in Audio format.
The narrator was horrible! She ruined one of my favorite books, and I can only pray that she does not narrate the rest of the serious!
