Harry Dresden lives!

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness.

After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long. And now, her word is his command, no matter what she wants him to do, no matter where she wants him to go, and no matter who she wants him to kill. Guess which one Mab wants first?

Of course, it won’t be an ordinary, everyday assassination. Mab wants her newest minion to pull off the impossible: kill an immortal. No problem there, right? And to make matters worse, there exists a growing threat to an unfathomable source of magic that could land Harry in the sort of trouble that will make death look like a holiday.

Beset by enemies new and old, Harry must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own… his soul.

Cold Days - Hot as H--L!

What did you love best about Cold Days?

The newer, bolder more confident Harry Dresden gives the story a great twist.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cold Days?

The reveal of the newest Winter Lady

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His characterizations are top notch. He brings life to everyone he voices. Why this man hasn't won an Audie is beyond me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Cold Days - Hell has really frozen over!

Any additional comments?

Keep 'em coming Jim. Kudos to you once again, James. Welcome back!

I need more stars to give!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but only if they read the entire series!

What did you like best about this story?

It was a non stop clusterf***k in the making... it seemed that there was no way Harry could overcome so many obstacles.... But Dresden finds a way... though he didn't exactly get lemonade after so many lemons... Harry lives to fight another day!

Which scene was your favorite?

Towards the end... the events that took place on the Island... so many twist... so much story to tell!

Any additional comments?

I saw an interview with Jim Butcher and sadly this series isn't open ended... He has a final book planned... whenever that is... I could listen to Harry in Marsters voice for years to come....

Amazing! - No spoilers

This is probably one of the best Dresden books! Some questions are answered but most of them still haven't been asked. Harry seems more sure of himself even though it might not seem like he is. I literally can't wait for what will happen next! I hope I won't have to wait for too long.

Yet another awesome entry in the series

Every Dresden book has been awesome(with maybe the exception of Ghost Story). This might be my favorite book in the series thus far, but I've said that about each book after finishing it. James Marsters does a great job bring all the characters to life. I can't recommend this book/series enough!

Harry is the most believable character in Fantasy

Where does Cold Days rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Cold Days is one of my new Favorites, and easily trumps Dead Beat as my new favorite.. I feel like Harry Dresden is someone I know, someone I understand. Wrestling with inner demons (and outer demons), you just can't help but feel for the guy. You've heard the Spider Man motto "With great power relies great responsibility", but Spidey has NOTHING on Harry Dresden. And with no disrespect to Mr. Glover, James Marsters IS the voice of Harry.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cold Days?

Three:'
1) Harry breaking down in front of Karen when she forces him to talk about his daughter
2) Harry confronting shark face during the Psychic duel, and screams"I am Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden"
3) Harry ranting about the magazine article he read about how women communicate on 6 different levels while men have just the one, and it must be some kind of superpower.

What about James Marsters’s performance did you like?

Lacuna. Oh my god, I want to break out laughing right now just thinking about her voice and her asking Harry why he wears clothes.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole book moved me. But Harry crying while admitting to Karen that he was afraid to see his daughter is probably on top. Also (trying to keep this as spoiler free as possible) the consequences of the winter lady and the summer lady at the end of the book.

Any additional comments?

Listen to this book twice, you will understand it much more deeply the second time. Everything happened for a reason.

Butcher does it again, and Marsters masters it!

The fourteenth book in the Dresden Files series lacks only one thing to make it a six-star worthy book, and that is the sequel ready to go! James Marsters once again is at his best in the reading of this masterpiece of modern alternative/supernatural mystery. His ability to do the voice acting is spot on, as is his clear, crisp diction couples with the right inflection. It is obvious to anyone listening that Mr Marsters has, unlike so many other narrators for Audible book, not only read the book ahead of time, but is a fan as well. Jim Butcher has been my favorite modern (1980-present) author for some time, and his Dresden Files novels continue to be fantastic for their gritty realism of the characters, his continued adherence to the "laws of magic" he has set down, and for the fast pace at which the action happens. I have now read the book once and listened through twice, and it is still a book worth reading and listening to again. A true delight for any fan.

Yay!

I have read all Dresden books through ghost book 13. Decided to audible Cold Days and was very pleased with James Masters narrating. His narration with all characters were right there so I fell into this audible easily. Great series and Cold Days pushes the series right along. Glad I chose this book.

Best book of the series!

I am not sure if i have said this before, but THIS is the best book so far. Changes was great, but this finally deals with some of the fallout, while changing a bunch more things as well. SOOOOO good.
