Publisher's summary

A recent legacy made Cassandra Palmer heir to the title of Pythia, the world's chief clairvoyant. It's a position that usually comes with years of training, but Cassie's circumstances are a little...unusual. Now she's stuck with a whopping amount of power that every vamp, fey, and mage in town wants to either monopolize or eradicate - and that she herself doesn't dare use.

What's more, she's just discovered that a certain arrogant master vampire has a geis on her - a magical claim that warns off any would-be suitors, and might also explain the rather intense attraction between them. But Cassie has had it with being jerked around, and anyone who tries it from now on is going to find out that she makes a very bad enemy.

another good book

If you liked the first book, Touch the Dark, you will love this one. Be warned, just as book one left you hanging at the end so will this one. I can't wait to get book three. Hopefully audible will have it soon or I will have to go get the dead tree version

wolverine

It is one thing for Cassandra to take the high road about weaponds and other things to which would allow her to defend herself. She winnes and has self loathing when someone gets hurt in protecting her, but when will it dawn on her to do something to protect herself. I am waiting on Pirtkin to tell her get a grip and help yourself or I am outta here.

listen to the reviews!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No one

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

Any additional comments?

I listen to books 2-3 per week. This is THE worst book. I couldn't finish listening! Reviews said first book sucked (and they were spot on).
After just finishing Jill Kismet this book was a w f u l.

potential if the narrator could be replaced

The most annoying narration of any book ever. It is really hard to get past the god awful mispronunciations

Really enjoy this series!

Any additional comments?

Cassie has inherited a huge amount of power when the title of Pythia passed to her. Although the power has chosen her, she has not received the usual training. The Pythia polices the timeline, protecting it from magic users who wish to alter the past to create a new future of their own choosing. And one particular evil time traveler wants to write Cassie out of the timeline for good.

In addition, Cassie discovered that the seductive Mircea had a geis placed on her that has gone awry, wildly escalating their already intense attraction to each other.

She finds herself jumping back and forth in time trying to evade the Silver Circle and Myra, who want her dead, and the vampire Senate who would like their own tame Pythia.

Cassie's adventures are set against the backdrop of Dante's Casino in Las Vegas where much delightful, inventive magic abounds. Vampires, war mages, gargoyles and ghoulies are among the mythical creatures that make up a normal day at Dante's.

Billy Joe is awesome!

What made the experience of listening to Claimed by Shadow the most enjoyable?

It's been 4 years since I read book 1 so it took me a while to remember who everyone was in this one. The first half was a little confusing with all the orbing in and out of different times and places.

What other book might you compare Claimed by Shadow to and why?

Mercy Thompson Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

Which character – as performed by Cynthia Holloway – was your favorite?

I enjoyed the second half much more I like all the different fae creatures and the comedy Cassie's ghost supplies!

EH....Just OK

The story line definitely has potential, but the main character just comes off as naive and dingy. I made it through the first book and I thought I'd give it another try. I prefer kick butt bad azz chicks and Cassandra Palmer just doesn't do it for me. It's a shame because I really liked the other characters and the story line. The narrator did not help the situation. The narrator was fine for everyone else, but for Cassandra, the voice and tone was quite annoying.

Confusing

I was somewhat frustrated with the first book but I saw that the rest of the books received better reviews so I decided to listen to the second one. It wasn't much better. The plot is confusing and the narrator is still stilted. I won't be listening to the rest.
