Couldn't even finish it!

Hmmm...how many ways can I say TERRRIBLE? This was a waste of my money. I don't need an entire chapter dedicated to the discussion of who sodomizes whom. I like a good vampire/werewolf story...didn't find it here. Terrible, terrible book.

What the HECK did I miss?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If Mrs. Hamilton had not changed the Anita Blake character; all the added lovers made the character too promiscuous and changed to tone of the series. Obsidian Butter left me anxious and disappointed that so many of the books in the series were missing (Audible jumps from Obsidian Butterfly to Bullet #19). I couldn't wait, so I order "Bullet". After listening for a while, I was like Huh? What happened to Anita?
I screamed: "Laurell done turned Anita into the Whore of Babylon, lol!"

What was most disappointing about Laurell K. Hamilton’s story?

I have purchased and listened to the first 9 books of this series in less than 2 weeks. . Anita a woman of class and strength, who kept us reader on pins and needles waiting to see who would be her first lover, Richard or Jean Claude. I loved that she had moral standards, and that she blushed. I am 3 hours into this book and I find out that her character has multiple sex partners. Dang, I hate that Mrs. Hamilton turned Anita into a slut. The male characters have become too feminine to enjoy. Uggghhhh! I was really enjoying these books!

Have you listened to any of Kimberly Alexis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Kimberly Alexis, ROCKS! She made the characters come alive.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I am returning this book!

Any additional comments?

disappointed

the narrator was great. the plot was a little thin. ms Hamilton is an excellent writer and i have always enjoyed her books. this one however had too much sex for me and that is remarkable. at one point she took 3 chapters to describe a sexual encounter, albeit it was an orgy, but still it's like she used it to fill out the book.

Awful

This is awful. The narrator is flat and the creepy new age music playing behind certain scenes is at the least distracting and at the most painful to the ears. I can't even get through the whole book because the endless sex scenes are just embarrassing to listen to and the repetitive calling and soothing of Anita's beast bogs the "plot" down so that it moves with the speed of frozen molasses. I'm sorry I used a credit up on this one.

End of the line

I have loved the first 9 Anita Blake books until the books turned into a maddening decent into drab orgy filled dribble. I had such high hopes after reading Skin Trade (which I enjoyed), but now it seems like we have veered back to weak plot and uninspiring character development. It seems like our old (more interesting) Anita is gone, I miss the paranormal crime work, I miss the romance aspect of the original series... there is a difference between romance and smut, and I love a little sex in my books but seriously these books make all the sexiness into a huge bore. I miss the old Anita... RIP.

Another member of the Disappointed club

While this book was at least book length and not a short story rip off disguised as a book like Flirt and Michah, I have to agree with the other reviews that it lacks plot. Yes,sex is an integral part of the series, but if you take out the sex what is left would make a good start on the first three chapters of the story of the battle with the vampire council. I've been hoping for the last several books that the trend to more sex and less plot would change but that doesn't appear to be the case. I doubt I'll buy another in the series.

To much

There was way to much about sex and the story just gets lost
I feel like this series is just lacking in plots it goes further.

Plot, we don't need no stinking plot!!

All the reviews have been pretty right on about the two major points,no plot and all sex.
I remember a time when the Anita Blake books had an actual plot, and the sex scenes were there to enhance the story. In the last couple of books, the plot is pretty much gone and in it's place is chapter after chapter of sex scenes. I remember the golden years of Hamilton developing an interesting paranormal plot, complete with diverse characters, and interesting subplots. Apparently those days are over. In it's place are essentially Letters to Playgirl.
Any time Anita has a problem, the solution every time now is sex. Problem with bad vampires, fix it with sex. Can't figure out what clothes to wear, just add a little sex and the answer will come. It's become a little comical. Add to this that Anita has essentially grown very little as a character emotionally, but is the return of Jesus as far as her Paranormal powers are concerned.

Alas, my biggest gripe comes from all of the male characters in the story. I can no longer differentiate between any of the men in her life. They are all written the same, which really sucks. They've all become neutered man slaves that bow to Anita's every whim. Their every thought is how they can please Anita. Even poor Richard has jumped on the bandwagon, which is kind of bitter sweet. He always bugged me the most out of all the characters, but now he's part of the Anita Chain Gang. Now I kind of wish his stubborn dumb self was back.

This book has a lot more MM sex then ever before. It's kind of ironic that Anita doesn't like FF sex but is totally ok to have major MM orgies. I've always enjoyed Laurell books, but this was pretty graphic even by her standards. While listening to this while driving, I was always afraid that someone would hear it and wonder if I was listening to some gay porn, LOL.

All in all, this book has almost no plot. It's essentially entirely sex, with weak efforts to throw in a story every now and then.

No More...

This story is missing basic editing ans well as a plot. I've been a fan of the series but this is the last book for me. Bullet is one of the worst books I've ever read. When the heroine refers to her breasts as "Mounds of creamy goodness" and makes a post orgy declaration that she is "wearing more samples than a CSI episode" it is time to say good bye.

Ugh

I was really praying that this book would be another step up after Skin Trade (which I really enjoyed and felt was back to the "old" Anita Blake novels). These books are just devolving into straight porn/erotica and I wish that she would stop before she completely destroys the characters. Spending PAGE AFTER PAGE AFTER PAGE describing clothing and hair is just a waste of space. We get it. Also I don't know what was up with the awful music and sound effects but it made a bad novel into an awful audio book.
