The all-new novel in the number-one best-selling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series.
The triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude, necromancer Anita Blake, and werewolf Richard Zeeman has made Jean-Claude one of the most powerful vampires in the U.S. He's consolidating power in himself and those loyal to him, doing in America what Belle Morte did in Europe when she was at her height of power. She almost owned Europe, and there was those who are determined that Jean-Claude won't do the same in America. Jean-Claude's motives may be kinder, but as any lawyer will tell you: motives matter, but you're just as dead. Assassins are coming to St. Louis to kill them all. Anita knows they're coming, but even being forewarned doesn't mean you can win.

Here we are again creating new problems with out resolving the old ones. Anita is still kicking metaphysical ass and having huge orgies :) the only downside is that this recording has ominous tones playing in the background sometimes it's unsettling.
Ms. Alexis does a wonderful job narrating this book. At times one may think there is more than one narrater.
I really like this series, though there is definitely a different theme to several of the previous books compared to the early books in the series.
Where did the plot go? I miss the early books. I am over the whole bondage and orgy and S&M thing. I miss the Anita that we met. I feel that she got lost. I like a good sex scene, but I find myself drifting away even during them now and waiting for everyone to feed the 'ardour' so they can put their clothes back on and find some real action. And seriously if I hear how
I've been a fan for years of Anita Blake and this book keeps the story alive and vibrant. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
Kimberly Alexis is fabulous as always and I hope she stays on as the narrator for as long as there are Anita Blake books.
Ok i keep forgetting who is who since the last time i read the last book. there are way too many people in this book and some scenes drag on forever. i really wanted to like. the characters have not grown at all in the last couple books. some of the sex scenes are just making me laugh out loud now. its silly. to defeat so and so anita must have sex, to build an alliance anita must have sex, to make a perfect 3 egg omelet anita must have sex. its sad to see a good series go down the tubes.
See, I actually love this series. I'm one of the few who didn't mind the descent into gratuitous sex - no problems with that at all. The problem is, I'm starting to think, that Hamilton keeps reading all these constant reviews saying that there's no story lines in her novels any more. So she puts more and more in, until there are so many blinking minor characters and minor story lines that I can't figure out what on Earth is actually going on. Serious case of narrative ADHD here - spends 2 minutes on this character, 2 minutes on this plot. But I'll keep reading in the hopes of this series getting its mojo back...
Ride the Bullet. Laurell K Hamilton sends us into the next phase of the evolving world of Anita Blake. Watch all of them step into the people they were meant to become. Shout and roar for Richard. If you've been following you will not want to miss this one.
If you are a current reader of this series, this will be a wonderful read. Yes, there is a lot of sex but by book 19 this shouldn't come as a shocker. Every few books in the series is this way and its apart of the personality & life of Anita Blake.
The author does wonders at weaving you into Anita's world. In following this series, your able to understand each of the supporting characters personalities, strengths and weaknesses; while reading their characters growth stories. It's a truly wonderful world the author has created and I will remain a loyal reader.
The narrator for this book does an amazing job!!!
I love books, it's my great escape.
I was not disappointed in this book but I really would have like a little more of a action packed thriller. This books has lots of sex. The characters seem a little shallow because of all the sex. I kept thinking, did they really just do that, but I kept listening. If you have been following the series you will still like it. So I gave it 4 stars.
