The League Book 2

Born of Fire, like Born of Defiance (Talyn Batur), is a companion book to Born of Night (Nykyrian) with events taking place within the same time frame. Truthfully, this book should be read AFTER Defiance and Night as the 3rd in the series.

The timelines are a tad off, between Born of Night & Born of Fire, with regards to the end of Born of Night when Syn & Shahara enter the hospital after Nykyrian is critically injured, but other than that, the storyline remains consistent.

I liked Shahara who is the strong heroine. Syn was great too, snarky and sarcastic. The narrator did a good job with most of the character voices, Nykyrian and Vik being the two exceptions. Digger Wade was voiced perfectly.

After Born of Night, Nykyrian should always have a Slavic accent. As he’s an alien hybrid from Andaria, he should never be voiced as an American. Geez! You’d think narrators would try for a bit of continuity in book series.

Great plot with all of the prerequisite twists that make for a good read (or listen) in spite of the rather explicit intimate scenes and crude language. Less would be more , in my opinion.

I couldn't stop laughing

Shahara Dagan, a bounty hunter, is in dire need of money to settle her sister's debts and medical bills. She plans to capture the notorious convict C.I. Syn for a hefty reward. However, Shahara is taken aback by Syn's striking appearance and his stark contrast to the ruthless criminal he's been made out to be.

Syn is tired of being chased for crimes he didn't commit. When Shahara's attempt to take him down comes from her brother, he realizes he must protect himself from both her blade and her brother's anger. Despite this, Syn's heart is at risk when he realizes that Shahara is exactly what he's been searching for all along.

As they flee together, Syn's true character begins to reveal itself, and Shahara realizes there's more to him than she initially thought. Though they both have trust issues, their survival depends on working together. But they will soon discover that some fates are worse than death.

The story of Born of Fire is set in the Ichidian Universe and is filled with thrilling action. Syn is superhuman, capable of withstanding immense physical and emotional pain. Shahara, on the other hand, bears the weight of the world on her shoulders. Despite her emotional and physical strength, her vulnerabilities are apparent. Both Syn and Shahara share painful pasts and struggle to find happiness, leading to jaded personalities. Trust issues and feelings of abandonment also contribute to their personalities. Throughout the story, Syn and Shahara face one dangerous adventure after another, growing closer with each step. However, their pasts continue to hinder any possibility of a future together. While Kenyon's heroes can be predictable, their stories remain fresh and exciting, making them impossible to resist.

Over and over...

There are few books that I can read over and over, but I find this series is one that calls me back time and again.

Yes, Again another listen that kept me wanting more. I could believe the story, the negative thoughts that the little voices in our heads can say to us.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Born of Fire?

The Ending. WOW.

The bubble bath.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The End.

Sherri is on Fire.

I’m so glad I’ve found Sherrilyn Kenyon. So far, I have greatly enjoyed everything that I have read of hers. Dark hunters, dream hunters, were hunters, and now The League all have been good. I’m still working my way through her stuff, but no disappointments yet. Considering that this was one of her earlier works it was great. Most authors improve with time and this book just started out good.

I have read this book before but I had to revisit it!!! It is even better than I remembered. I love this series so much and am so glad am revisiting them again. if you have the time please read or listen to them!!!

Great story

I really liked this book and the narrator did a great job. I like the author’s style and which characters she chose to follow for this part of the story. The book went into depth with the characters, which I really appreciate—no two dimensional characters. I particularly enjoyed the twists and turns and surprises. I highly recommend.

Absolutely Absorbing!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Born of Fire to be better than the print version?

I don't think one is better than the other. However, one of the things that made the audiobook so entertaining was Fred Berman characterizations. I especially liked Vic!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Shahara!! She kicks major a**!!!!

What does Fred Berman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Fred. I have listened to ALL of the Sherrilyn Kenyon books that he has narrated and I've NEVER been disappointed. Actually, he is the only reason that I began to listen to this series on Audible. He is also the narrator for many of the Dark Hunter novels and when I saw that he was reading League books too, I jumped to start using my credits! Holders Graham is great too (fantastic, actually) but the sultry masculinity of Fred's voice is mesmerizing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Move over James bond, you're finally outmatched... and she gives a great crotch shot!!!!

Any additional comments?

I just love this series. Of all the books, Nykerian & Caillen are my absolute favorites. Syn, however isn't far behind. As a married woman, they make it safe to fantasize about real men who know how to love, cherish, respect and honor strong women. Sherrilyn does a great job of making these men vulnerable without being WEAK. I cannot wait for Hauk's story to come out. I just wish we didn't have to wait so long.

Enjoying Series

I'm enjoying the series much more than I thought I would. Enjoyed it more when Kelly was the narrator in Born of Night. Fred doesn't give enough differences between the voices for me. And his female voices are grating, to say the least. Didn't like him when he read the Dark-Hunter series, either. Sigh!!!!
