Publisher's summary

Raylene Pendle (AKA Cheshire Red), a vampire and world-renowned thief, doesn’t usually hang with her own kind. She’s too busy stealing priceless art and rare jewels. But when the infuriatingly charming Ian Stott asks for help, Raylene finds him impossible to resist - even though Ian doesn’t want precious artifacts. He wants her to retrieve missing government files: documents that deal with the secret biological experiments that left Ian blind. What Raylene doesn’t bargain for is a case that takes her from the frozen outskirts of Minneapolis to the mean streets of Atlanta. And with a psychotic, power-hungry scientist on her trail, a kick-ass drag queen on her side, and Men in Black popping up at the most inconvenient moments, the case proves to be one hell of a ride.

it will do

Right now vampire books are popular, so a lot of authors go where the money is, as is evident in this book by Cherie Priest. I have loved her steam punk books and was a little disappointed with this book tho it was better than some I have listen to in this category. Probably won't read more in the series, but it wasn't a total waste of money.

Full of inner monologue

Would you try another book from Cherie Priest and/or Natalie Ross?

I don't want to purchase another book by this author by the chance its full of the same continual ramblings. The story line itself was interesting and the concept was a good one. But the inner ramblings became tiresome and i found myself hitting the forward button to get through it.

What about Natalie Ross’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed the narrator. Her voice was enjoyable and she gave life to the characters.

Could you see Bloodshot being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Possibly. With a series the inner monologues wouldn't go on forever and the editors would cut out the rambling and get to the point.

Any additional comments?

The concept was good but was buried in all the "filler".

Love this author and this reader!

Very entertaining book. Natalie Ross is a revelation as a tough cookie vampire. I'll be looking for more books by Cherie Priest and narrations by Ms. Ross. Highly recommended!

Wow!

What a nice Gem!!! Natalie Ross is a great narrator. I’m so glad I found her. This book was hidden from me and never appeared in my recommended list. Audible really needs to update that list or let us listeners vote on if we like a book or not so it can be removed and updated. Anyways, I’m glad I found this book. It was amazing and the narrator really brought the book to life. This is the type of book I like. The lead women is strong, witty, sexy, and isn’t a whiny brat that likes to argue for argue sake. I’m just so so tired of all those books. Please Cherie priest! Teach these authors how to REALLY write!

An Excellent Start!

A semi-neurotic and paranoid vampire thief as the main character?!? That is simply inspired and hilarious. The story is great, the narration is perfect, and, overall, this could be a great series if that is the direction the author goes.

Worth the $5, very entertaining Book 1 of series.

I like the characters, they are oddballs and eccentrics...in a paranormal world of SEATTLE. I especially like Adrian, and am on the fence about Ian. This series has potential, I hope Cherie is able to keep the pace. Bought it on sale and well worth the $5.

A notch above

We all know it, most urban fantasy authors are considered sub-par writers and I must admit not always without reason. Cherie Priest though is an author I have come to like and respect after having read Dreadnought and Boneshaker (superb Steampunk) so I didn???t hesitate for a second in getting this. I was not disappointed.
She seems to give credence to the reputation of urban fantasy authors in this because it is certainly a notch above most UF. I cannot help feeling though that this novel is more of the start of a series than a standalone novel, maybe because of the abrupt ending. On the other hand I really wouldn???t mind another book featuring Cheshire Red. The narration is excellent.

Meh.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The main character is sexy but there is little to no sexual tension. The 'sidekick' character is a drag queen who is also a former special opps marine?? Really? The main character is alternately paranoid and bored. There is a plot but I didnt care much by the end.

If you’ve listened to books by Cherie Priest before, how does this one compare?

I have not.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It was performed fine, not extraordinary.

Could you see Bloodshot being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.
