Critic reviews

"Jane gets into a complicated stew involving human and vampire rivalries, the ancient vampire-witch conflict, the New Orleans police, and her need to balance her beast and human natures. What with puzzles, chases (including a climactic one to rescue children), lots of blood, and some explicit sex, count on this to please thriller and dark romance fans alike." ( Booklist)

Great Sequel!!

Many sequels lack the elements to make a good book, but this book is an EXCELLENT sequel!! This book picks up from the last and it takes off on a twisted ride! Jane gets questions answered all the while trying to keep her bestie Molly and her kids safe from the potential threats to all of them. But you can't be in two places at once and the plot twist again! Great story! Highly recommended!!

An excellent series

I enjoyed book 1 in this series and I think book 2 may have been a little bit better. The author brought in new elements and expanded some of the characters. I'm looking forward to book 3. I got this on sale, but wouldn't have felt cheated if I use a credit.

Another Great Story

I am almost finished with the story, and I am sitting on pins and needles until I can get to it again. Not only has Faith Hunter written another hit story about Jane Yellow Rock's vamp killing quest, but Khristine Hvam does another great job of delivering a spell-binding story. I love this series! It's creepy, but I am actually coming to like vamps . . . sort of . . .

Now that’s a story!

This book has had me in the edge of my seat from word one. Talk about a crazy, wild ride!

I love Jane, she’s the perfect mix of sanity and chaos but when you mix her duties (her job) as a rogue vamp hunter into the mix things go from crazy to our of this world.

The world building keeps getting better and better as well. It’s become one of those series that you can’t put down, you just have to keep going and going!

Jane’s job as rogue hunter takes her into a situation that has her left bleeding and fighting to stay alive. More than once. Leo is. Or himself still and now, as if things couldn’t get worse, the witch offspring of her best friend are taken, and her bff left for dead.

Janes new mission is to save the kids, kill the witches and vamps responsible all while trying to stay alive and relatively in one piece.

It’s harder than it seems!

From a guy's point of view

If you could sum up Blood Cross in three words, what would they be?

Innocent NC vamp-killer

What did you like best about this story?

Although a feminine storyline, lots of references that keeps me interested just when the storyline turns a little mushy: motorcycles, life near Asheville, NC, a reference to trailer life and the twisted selfish vampire bloodsuckers Jane Yellowrock encounters in New Orleans, taking advantage of her even though she's trying to help them. Slowly Jane figures it out in her simple innocent way and learns a lot about what matters in life. Well done.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Narrator shocks you just when the time is right with character voice changes. Throws in fantastic pauses that I'm sure are just like the author intended. Fantastic.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Jane Yellowrock: saving kits & vamps.

Cool characters

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Pretty good ending. No real surprises, but it was entertaining

Any additional comments?

SPOILERS!!!!
I think this book was a smoother book than the first. Khristine Hvam rocks the hell out of the southern voices, she has perfect timing. I really did enjoy the listen and the characters are very easy to like, I think Faith is putting together a good core cast and leaving tons of room for diversity with character development. My only complaint was the story itself. I like most of the characters and love Khristine, but the all powerful vamps routine gets very old for me. When Leo ripped her up there should have been at least some type of fight, especially since she turned into uber big cat, I mean how many times can you hear "I am not Prey" and then......nothing. I was hoping the vamp mythos would be original too. This origin line isn't too overly borrowed, but it wasn't exactly new, as soon as I heard the Latin phrase for Judas Iscariot, I was disappointed.

Having said all that, I did enjoy the book and again Khristine kicks ass! Worth the listen and I will be finishing out the next several books.
