Publisher's summary

Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as violently as ever, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey, of House Lannister, sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the land of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, the victim of the jealous sorceress who holds him in her evil thrall. But young Robb, of House Stark, still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Robb plots against his despised Lannister enemies, even as they hold his sister hostage at King's Landing, the seat of the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons still left in the world....

But as opposing forces maneuver for the final titanic showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost line of civilization. In their vanguard is a horde of mythical Others, a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords....

Mostly Great

the books is amazing

Roy Dotrice's voice is great when he talks normally but I found most of his character voices VERY annoying, hard to understand, and stressful to listen to.

Second best after the part 1

After the second book I thought it won’t be as good as first part but third part surprised me. It’s very good. Second best after the first one.

Roy Dotrice needs to win all the awards

Lets create the Oscars for AudioBooks, so that Roy Dotrice can rightfully sweep it.
The story is also, as you probably already know, insanely incredible.

Spellbinding

Martin is a wizard it’s pure magic what he does! I consider myself a writer simply because I’m a journalist and a blogger, but what he does is beyond that. This book is spellbinding if I had it my way I would have holed myself up and listened to it in one shot!

Better than TV!

A Storm of Swords is a detailed book that goes into detail about the war that the tv series doesn't show. Glimpse of what the characters are thinking add another layer than just watching them in action

Amazing performance.

I can’t imagine anyone but Roy Dotrice performing all of there characters we have come to love. Martin is brilliant in his works and I can only hope he finishes the next book before I finish the 5th audio book.

I love the context I watch the show first this is better all the different characters that were merged into one like edric and gendrey you could have had watch the whole show and utterly surprises of this telling of it worth it the show is more of a outline to this engrossing telling. I never get into audiobooks now I finished. my third

Continuing the Westeros Saga

Would you consider the audio edition of A Storm of Swords to be better than the print version?

I would definitely consider it better having both the ereader and the audio version. The audio version gives a more fluid feel to the story. Mostly because you don't have to struggle with the spelling of the characters names. For me, that can be distracting while reading. The audio version doesn't have this issue.

Would you be willing to try another book from George R. R. Martin? Why or why not?

I am looking forward to finishing the series. Once you've gotten 100 hours into the series you kinda have to give it the benefit of finishing.

What about Roy Dotrice’s performance did you like?

As usual, Roy Dotrice gives a great performance. He does a very good job of bringing characters to life. When the setting or scene changes, as a listener, you're disappointed for a few moments because Roy had set the stage and captured your interest.

Any additional comments?

Book three continues the story that the first two books began. Although there's not as much action as the first two books, I was not disappointed in the story and where it seems to be going. There's some really big surprises in store in book three. You'll be eager to start book four once you reach the end of the book.
