Padlocked doors. Strange light fixtures. Mutant cockroaches.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s. Because every room in this old Los Angeles brownstone has a mystery or two. Mysteries that stretch back over a hundred years. Some of them are in plain sight. Some are behind locked doors. And all together these mysteries could mean the end of Nate and his friends. Or the end of everything....

"A wholly original story that weaves together mystery and the apocalypse like a finely tuned band." (Evan Roy, Bricks of the Dead)

Editorial Review

If you love a good mystery and are even remotely interested in sci-fi or horror, 14 is the perfect escapist treat, and listener-favorite narrator Ray Porter is at the top of his game in this performance. Plus if you loved LOST like I did, this book will help with those withdrawals you're likely still experiencing (just me?)Sam P., Audible Editor

you'll never guess where this is headed

I didn't want this book, my boyfriend did.. we listened to it on our commute to work and for a book that is totally out of left field for my tastes I couldn't wait to finish the story. The only disappointing thing to me is that there was no sequel.

Great book, but be warned that it gets Sci-Fi

I would recommend this book to a friend who is not afraid to delve into a little bit of science fiction. I loved the character development and I think Peter Clines did a great job keeping the readers attention with a non-stop plot and a great protagonist. This book was incredible and kept me listening for long periods of time. Its one of those books that you wish you hadn't finished so quickly because the characters are your friends!

Everything is fantastic until the end!

What did you love best about 14?

The writing, the reading, the characters!!! The characters were the best, you can imagine these people really existing. The mystery was edge of the seat and yet so realistic until the end. This book is awesome until the ending, stupid ending but I don't regret listening because the journey was so entertaining!

Would you recommend 14 to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes and No, the overall book is a fantastic realistic mystery until the end

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great reader! His voice goes perfect with the character he reads for

Any additional comments?

A good listen even if with minor oddities

Love the story but a couple thing stood out. Underwater is not silent. It is very noisy and secondly, when accosted by a madman, shoot him don’t reason with him. Listened to nearly straight through, very exciting last hour ending!

Absolutely enjoyable.

"14" is a testament of Peter Clines' level of craftsmanship. The book starts showing the everyday grind of the life of everyday people in LA and evolves into a story that you don't want it to end. Ray Porter's performance is, as always, amazing. The complains of some listeners about the lack of story shows that they never listened more than one hour, and even then, they didn't pay any attention to it.
