I really enjoyed this book, fun, engaging, a pleasure all around. the narration is excellent and makes for a great listen.

It starts with just a few odd things, then it gets weirder & wierder. Soon, you're left wondering WTF is faking on. And you can't wait to listen to the next chapter. Awesome book!

New to this author

This was my first Peter Cline book. Very good science-fiction. Characters are well developed and like able.

Masterful

14 started out a bit slow and the style of writing took a bit of getting used to, but a few chapters in I was hooked. Peter Clines does a masterful job of building character, building suspense, building plot. Ray Porter does an exceptional job with narration. His Squale is especially convincing

Although the book is far, far more than this, I would say that "Lovecraft for the 21st century" would not be a bad way of describing this book in just a few words.

over the top

This was a fun read, but not great sci fi / fantasy. The author went a bit too over the top with the premise. He had me hooked during the investigation phase of the book, but where he went with it was just too silly to keep the suspense factor going. I'm pretty easy when it comes to "suspension of disbelief", but c'mon!

mixed emotions

Great character development, riveting mystery. Sci fi went too far too fast with too many unresolved subjects, though. Entertaining nonetheless.
