That allows Scout and her boyfriend Gunner to make a trip to her childhood home. Upon their return, a shifter attacks and throws their world into a tailspin. He’s easily dispatched but appears to be suffering from a magical infection that has his body wasting and his mind collapsing.

It seems there’s a new top vampire in town, and his powers are extensive for a creature who wasn’t born into his legacy. On top of that, he’s crossed paths with Scout before and knows exactly how to push her buttons.
Scout is a fighter, but the world is closing in on her. She’s going to need her new coworkers and the family she doesn’t know to help her out on this one...and even then, nothing is a given.
The road before her is winding, but answers are finally here. Scout will finally know what she is. Whether she survives long enough to benefit from the knowledge is completely up in the air.

this book ranks as one of the best ms Lee has written to date! i loved every word, and i absolutely love Scout's (almost always) positive attitude~ especially at the end toward Emma.
ms Kelly's performance was spectacular~ she has grown distinctively as a voice actor and deserves much applause🤗

loved the story, narration was irritating
I loved the storyline and am excited that we finally got to find out what Scout is. Lots of battles, and lots of action. Really looking forward to the next book. I love Scout and can't wait to find out what she's capable of. Gunner is fantastic. The battle ended up being a little anticlimactic, but what happened during battle was awesome.
The narrators voice for several characters was whiny and grating. Wish I had listened to sample. Was excited the audiobook came out before release date of actual book.
