Funny story but not the right narrator

Funny story but not the right narrator for this book - it distracts from the story. Read it instead to get the full effect. The direction the narrator take the characters is not in line with the way I read the book - and ruined them for me.

narration

narration was good BUT she constantly swallowed to the point I began gagging and wanted to throw up.

A humorous to hilarious 5 star romp!

To say that Barbara Rosenblat makes the book is an understatement. Her narration allows Katie MacAlister's characters to be as she intended, hilariously funny, charming, sexy. I wish Rosenblat narrated all the books. Other narrators don't get MacAlister's humor and basically ruin the audio experience. I read them in book format to avoid the other narrators.

Couldn’t stop listening!

There were plenty of times I thought Aisling was a few fries short of a happy meal. But then she would agree, so I couldn’t blame her or the author. I loved the many twists and turns and the surprise at the end. Well done. I’m looking forward to the next segment to Aisling’s story.

Love the storyline.

I really like the story line and feel the narrator did very well. I don't know if the noise I hear on the recording is the narrator or the sound quality, but sometimes it was a little irritating. I enjoyed the story and although I don't mind sexual content, I felt the descriptions were a little repetitive. All in all, I will listen to the remainder of the series and have enjoyed the story thus far.

If you're a fan of paranormal this is a must listen. Barbara Rosenblat made the characters come to life. She was great. The book is great. A must read!!! So good I have the whole series. Thank you Audible for another outstanding listen.

Can't ever get enough of reading this book.

What did you love best about You Slay Me?

All of it. I accidently bought this book originally on cassettes when the libraries were getting rid of all of their books on cassettes. This one accidental purchase was worth what I spent on all the others. Katie MacAlister promptly went to the top of my favorite authors list and I have swiftly read all of her other books I can get my hands on. I have long been a fan of Barbara Rosenblat...she 'rocks' and she makes the characters all come alive. I love all of the voices she uses for the various characters in this series. But the voice for Jim, the demon is right on target and she delivers his snarky lines so perfectly. Lord, I love Jim and am glad he is in the others in the series. Of course Drake just makes me drool in all of his scenes.

What did you like best about this story?

The story hooked me in from the first chapter. This is the first book I have ever read with dragons who are shapeshifters. Have always been a dragon fan from my Sci/Fi reading days of old before I got hooked on PNR. But Katie MacAlister dragons are sooooooo fantastic. I actually enjoy very much also the names of the various characters and especially love the way Barbara Rosenblat pronouns Aisling. Have listened to one other narrator reading a story by Katie with Aisling in it but they pronounced it wrong and for me it took the enjoyment level down a bit.

Which scene was your favorite?

OMG there are so many favorites in this book. But hands down, the scene in GNC where Drake officially declares Aisling as his mate in front of all the patrons was awesome. Hot Hot Hot. The descriptions of the Dragon's Blood Wine's effect on Aisling was such a great part of the scene. You could just about feel the heat of it yourself while reading. Right from the start Drake wins you over in this scene with desire. Each time I read this book I have to replay this whole scene at least one extra time before going on with the rest of the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole book moved me, especially the love scenes and interactions with Drake and Aisling. But, I actually felt personally betrayed by the real killer when that was exposed.

Any additional comments?

Katie MacAlister created characters in this book that even invade my dreams they are so real. Delicious Drake, daring and adventurous Aisling, and all the other characters. BUT, I absolutely LOVE Jim. The book would have been wonderful even without him I am sure, but Jim adds such a fun dimension with his snarkiness. His love of his own body, his observations of what he sees, his attempts to act like a dog by saying Bark Bark or Woof Woof, etc. always give me a good chuckle and smile.

Fun summer read

I enjoyed the story and it was a quick, fun read. My only complaint is the narrator. She's fun and expressive, but at times, TOO snarky. And I really got tired of hearing swallowing sounds. YUCK. And the quality of this particular download is not so great. Kind of a snap crackle tape-like quality to it. Pretty annoying.

Katie MacAlister's Slays Me!

What made the experience of listening to You Slay Me the most enjoyable?

Character development, Katie MacAlister's sense of humor, and a rollicking storyline.

What did you like best about this story?

Characters. Katie writes engaging central characters with the best snarky sidekicks.

What didn’t you like about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance?

Chewing gum? Potato chip wrapper? Mint? Sinus issues? Whether it was the narrator or someone near the microphone, the extraneous sounds were akin to blackboard scratching.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

None specifically. It was the character by-play that has me listening for about the fourth go-round.

I absolutely loved this!

I was hooked from the first - and it only got better. This has everything and really made me laugh at times till I cried. Jim is just too much. And Wow! the sizzles between Aisling and Drake made my toes curl. The narrator did an excellent job with all the voices but Drake's and Aisling's were perfect! I could picture Drake almost from the voice she gave him alone. I already downloaded the next three and have listened to them as well and let me tell you it only gets better!!!
