"My name is Maura McCafferty. I take men who love me and I destroy them. If there was a scarlet letter I could wear to keep the men at bay, it would be a W. I would wear it proudly, to let them know I am a wrecker. If you love me, I will wreck you."
Raised within the Devil's Crusaders, Maura has been exposed to many of life's uglies and sheltered from any real relationships. She has all but given up on the idea of love. Until she meets Corbin Marx, a sexy beast of a marine who refuses to back down from any challenge. He is the type of man Maura has craved, the type who might just be strong enough. This journey will be brutal, littered with violence, deceit, and heartache. Maura must learn to navigate through the bumpy roads that life has paved and hope that at the end she will find her happiness.
Warning: Due to violence, language, drug use, and sexual content, this book is not suited for anyone under 17. If those things offend you, this might too.

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Be prepared because Maura and Corbin's romance is instant and their feelings and passions all happen very very quickly but these two characters know exactly what they want.... and it's each other. It starts off as a sweet love story but soon there's gang threats, violence, deaths, the daunting dynamics of the MC characters, a jealous MC member and through it all the two lovers are inseparable. But insecurities start to creep in when Maura returns to the base with Corbin and she starts to suspect he's keeping secrets but when she overhears two different conversations it rocks her world, shatters her dreams and her heart..... all in one night.
Despite the very quick romance there's a vulnerability with both main likeable characters and you can't help but feel their heartache and pain when things go terribly wrong. There's sex, dirty talking, drama, angst, secrets, misunderstandings, a deeply regretted betrayal and this makes for a roller coaster ride for your emotions. And, as joy turns into heartache and their love is tested to it's limits, all you can do is hold on and hope that they get their elusive HEA..... but the chances unfortunately look bleak.
Worth a credit? Dual POV's, narrator was ok and the story built and built to a climactic, heartbreaking and gut-wrenching ending..... so YES, IMO, creditworthy. But, if you're not a fan of the initial 'instant connection quickly followed by instant lust, sex and love' start to a story then pass on this because you'll be rolling your eyes at first but you'll sadly miss the suspense, romance and a traumatic reunion. Me.... well I'm just an easygoing romantic.
I am an avid reader, not a professional book reviewer. I gladly offer my opinion of the books I read/listen to.
If you have read my reviews before you know I have favorite MC series. This is what I consider a pseudo MC book. The attraction is instant between Corbin and Maura. It is fast moving and sexy. It is an easy listen. I gave it four stars because it did hold my interest somewhat.... the narration was good ..... and it filled up what would of otherwise been a boring car ride!
Yes. I enjoyed hearing the story and loved the fact that the narrator did so well with the different accents and male/female voices.
No but she was awesome!
I was a bit heartbroken when Maura and Corbin had their falling out but glad that they got it together in the end.
This is my first audio book. Thank you Abby McCarthy for picking me as the winner of your audio code thus paving the way for me to enjoy this.. I love the different emotions you brought up in me while listening to your book. I had to pause the narration a lot of times because I had to process the scene while tears are free falling from my eyes. Again, MARAMING SALAMAT. ( Thank you very much in my very own Filipino language).
ROMANCE! MC, vampire, YA, etc...I'm picky & only leave feedback on the ones I LOVED, w/lots of bookmarks, the ones that ck'd all my boxes.
I thought they moved a little quickly in the beginning, but their relationship developed well afterwords, despite their problems. Definitely worth a credit. An easy listen for when you are doing housework! ;)
Oh hot damn!!!
Corbin. Because he sounds so good looking.
No, but a nice voice.
Such a great book! Can't wait to read more books by Abby McCarty.
A reviewer at Guilty Indulgence Review Site. I don't go anywhere without a book -ebook or audiobook- and I always have an opinion to share.
I'm not sure if i disliked the writing or the narration more. The writing was juvenile as if it were written by a new author. And the narration did nothing to help it. It all just felt forced, as if the author couldn't get a grasp on the genre and was trying too hard. The characters were overdonever- maybe attempting to make them more badasses. But it didn't work.
Hell NO!. Her voice is far to Whinny. She does not have the appropriate voice for this GENRE! She may be able to perform YA like early teens but that's about all.
All of them.
What is up with all the 5 stars and one of my favorite reviews gave it 4 stars..After I listened to this audiobook.I was shocked She is typically on point, but not this one. Did we listen to the same audiobook.
I wasn't sure at first if it was the writing or narration.. but to be honest it was both. The writing was very juvenile and add in the narration and there you have it a DISASTER. I know I was suppose to cheer for the HEA but I just didn't care by the time I reached the END!. The entire book was absolutely immature, juvenile and boring.
If I could give this audiobook a 0 star rating I would. The narration was painful at best. I think the author was attempting to make the Heroin a bad a** biker chick to the point that it just grates on your nerves. She carry's a gun (sorry Glock), rides a motorcycle, her father is a member of MC, she's under age but drinks like a fish blah, blah, but oh yea she's a virgin... Get Real! IMO this audiobook should be free and I still would not recommend this to anyone. READ/LISTEN at your own peril...
The author attempted to put some action/suspense in the book but because of the narration it just fall flat and felt forced. By the time you get to the end trust me you will not give a damn what happens to the Hero or Heroin!
