Narrated with flirtatious coyness by Vanessa Chambers, Wrath: New Species, Book 6 is the continued sexy saga concerning a genetically modified new species - warrior men who are half human, half animal, and 100% hunks.
When a proud and studly member of this new species, Wrath, meets Lauren, a fast-talking, quick-thinking woman whom danger always seems to find, things get suspenseful and very, very passionate indeed. The plot perhaps isn’t as important as the, ahem, richly described steamy details.
Wrath volunteers to live and work outside Homeland, where he'll once again be confined in a small space with other males. He was subjected to horrific abuse and conditioning and forced to view endless sex tapes of human females while chained to Mercile's perverted machines. Wrath knows he’s too dangerous and emotionally damaged to ever be with a female.
Lauren has just been detained by three big, buff, well-armed men - New Species. One of them really catches her eye. He's tall, sexy and... her new roommate, apparently. Having never met a man this spectacular, she decides to taste every inch of his amazing body. Wrath is definitely open to that plan. The sex is incredible and he gives her everything she needs - but he'll only go so far. Something is holding him back.
Lauren has to make him unleash his desire and Wrath has to get past his fear if the couple wants any chance at a future together.
Publisher’s Note: While each New Species book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order.

If it's not obvious from my other posts regarding the New Species series, I'm a HUGE fan! I've enjoyed each book, but, there's something about WRATH that tickled my fancy in just the right way! Each book has the same basic concept more or less, but, this one stands out to me because Wrath was so incredibly loveable and I just melted as he and Lauren's relationship developed. I'm also really looking forward to Shadow's book--I think its book 8 or 9--and yes, I've pre-ordered them all! As has been the norm in the Species books there was a healthy dose of humor and hotness, and these books can't be released fast enough for me. I'm totally consumed and loving every minute!
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
Mixed feeling on this series....not for me. Great outline, but I have listened to Valient and Wrath, and both are the same basic character.
these are ez listen and at $10 not bad, but I will not purchase the rest...they give you great teaser, but the books just do not bring it home for me.
I have heard this reader before and do not like her reading skill, just not for me. Her male voices are just awful
No, I can not say it was worth the time. I wanted to give this series 2 try s, but not for me.
I purchased 2 of the wolf series, and the reader seems to be pretty good. I also purchased one of the Zorn series and I will have to see if it is Ok. With this author, I am not going to buy the whole lot,I have gotten so burned doing this with other series. I will give it 2 trys before buying more. My 1 at a time rule must be enforced as I now have some really bad listens I will probably never listen.
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
I adore the sexy New Species series. Wrath, the hero, is a unique blend of sexy, intense and innocent. The tenderness and love he has for Lauren is so sigh-worthy and Lauren’s honest and open reciprocation is lovely as well. Like other couples in the series, Wrath and Lauren have an emotionally and sexually intense romance that fans of erotic paranormal romance will adore as I did. I found it refreshing that Wrath and Lauren are so emotionally vulnerable to each other and that the author doesn't throw pointless tension into their romance to keep them separate. This is an exploration of how two distinct people become a couple and that’s why I read romance!
Her male character voices are just goofy. Wrath sounds like an idiot cartoon animal with a mouth full of cotton balls. The stories are great but the male voices are very distracting.
I like all the books I read in this series so far and Laurann Dohner is one of my favorite author.
This particular book might be a favorite for me though because it adresses even more the concerns of the human side of things, especially for the human female who has to abandon their home, their job and their lifestyle.
I know that for some that might be unimportant because they are all into the romance but that's why I love this writer. She draws a realistic picture of things that plunges you right into the thick things.
There is a lot to be said about this book and about this serie in general,
- the characters, both the good and the bad guys, are great and unique
- world building is stellar
- there's enough erotic scenes...well maybe not (*shy laugh*)
but most importantly : I LOVE THE COVER.
I want spoil things but this cover fits the story perfectly. Though the other books have great covers as well, this one is my favorite BY FAR because it's relevant to the story and it's simply HOT.
So, if you think that at the 7th book things are getting repetitive and reduced to a memory of the 1st book, think again.
I really liked Wrath. I was glad to see that 919 has a name and a Mate. Her BFF, Amanda was a hoot. I hope she and Flame get a story of their own down the road. As always the narration was spot on. Very nice listening experience. Worth the time and worth the $$$.
Who doesn't enjoy being transported to another world, and traveling on an unforgettable adventure? Thank you audio books! Happy dance <3
I have been devouring book after book of this series. I may be addicted... So far my favorite has been Valiant. I was actually pretty excited about this one thanks to the previous book. Perhaps that made my disappointment about this book not being totally awesome, and just so-so, worse. Dohner is an amazing writer no doubt, but this did not feel on par with the other books in this series. The plot felt forced at times, and just off in others. I kind of felt like Wrath was all over the place character wise. He didn't feel like the same person from the last book, or even the same person from the beginning to the end of this book. Not in growth, but his personality was everywhere. The reasoning in the characters actions where also irrational to me to the point was actually thinking, "Why didn't they just do this....". It takes a lot for me to think that way, and to have my mind dropped from the story line.
Speaking of my mind dropping from the story line, we are on to the narrator. Chambers does a very good job in this series trying to make all the characters (and there are many) distinct through their voice. There are some of her voices I like more then others, but that's just my preference. In this story though I couldn't stand her voice for Wrath. Every time he spoke I was popped out of the story listening to a woman trying to give an awful impersonation of a girl trying to copy a deep mans voice. It was so bad at times it was funny, but I'd have to rewind to try to focus on what Wrath was saying. All other voices where fine.
All in all it was passable, and I would listen just to get to the next story. But I'm not likely to re-listen.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I really love the New Species... Some of the books are not as good as other...lucky for me this one was a keeper... Wrath, totally unlike his name... was a sweetheart! Him and Lauran are just too cute... and the way Lauran rescued him... then call NS base.. and kept getting hung up on...was hilarious.
Narration... yet again.. great!
Great Credit, buy or sale...
I count this book as my favorite in the series so far. I appreciated the balance in it's content. This particular one had excitement, suspense, and just the right amount of passionate scenes. Another aspect of this book I appreciated was that the main characters did less thinking for one another than the others in this series did. It's always best to keep to the common sense of human nature when creating dialogue. I'm annoyed when the characters are made to create unnecessary and child like conclusions based on their own insecurities.I would like to see less of this type of writing and more emphasis on 'adults' being able to communicate as adults ought.
I also liked the introductions to new and interesting characters. This series is laid out in such a way that It's like watching all of it play out.
Lauren finds love in the most unlikely way and so does Wrath. Wrath is able to overcome his fears so that can happen for them both.
Wrath and Lauren are my favorite characters in this series because they seemed the most authentic to me.
All her books in this series have very similar traits. The guys are carbon copies of each other but since this works , why change it. Not my favourite of stories & nothing really stands out but great to listen to when I'm running.
