Lia Brooks has a broken heart and a burning desire to escape New York City. She decides Provincetown is the perfect winter escape to find some peace and regroup. Alex McKinnon is the pastry chef and proprietor of The Flour Pot Cafe, in the heart of Provincetown. She loves owning her own business and the easy, no-strings-attached relationships that come with living in a gay tourist mecca.

When Lia appears in the cafe, the attraction is immediate. The passion between them promises more than a casual affair, but it's never that simple. Women from Alex's past pop up at the most inopportune times. Then there's Lia's ex, who brokers deals for a living and is unaccustomed to losing. Will Alex and Lia be able to overcome the roadblocks and find a happily ever after?

I came across Aurora Rey by chance and I’m a fan of series’s, so I decided to give it a whirl. The story itself isn’t bad. At times overtly descriptive, but not descriptive enough for most “scenes”. I just felt like the picture couldn’t be painted, completely. Also the narrator lacked emotion. It sounded more like she was reading a book to Kindergarteners about flowers, not narrating a romance novel.
I’m going to continue with the series, because I enjoy witnessing the character growth(if any) and how their beings intertwine. Hopefully the next book doesn’t disappoint.

Narrator was...meh

I enjoyed the book thoroughly. The push and pull between the main characters was interesting to watch. I especially liked that they found each other in the end...total sap moment! The narrator was also decent as well. Her spinthrrn drawl was qyite interesting to say the least. In the end, great book!

Lia Brooks moves to Provincetown after a ten year relationship ends because of cheating. Betrayal has caused her to push other women away. Alex McKinnon ones the Flower Pot Cafe which becomes Lia’s favorite place to do her science writing. Can they find a way to a real romance or move past each other. Great performance. Recommend.

Brilliant Depiction of Learning to Trust

I loved the story, but the narrator didn't fit. The "southern" accent and "boston" accent attempts were laughable. but I really enjoyed the story.

very good romance
