Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be simple. All Navy SEAL Nathan Malone had to do was rescue three young girls from a Colombian drug cartel, then allow himself to be captured just long enough to draw out a government spy. That was before his mission went disastrously wrong… and before his wife, Bella, was told that Nathan was never coming home.

Bella’s mourned her husband’s death for three long years, having no idea that he was still alive. Forced to assume a new identity, the man Nathan was is now dead. If he can get back to his wife, can he keep the secret of who he really is… even as desire threatens to consume them? And as danger threatens to tear Bella from Nathan’s arms once more?

Disappointed with narrator

What did you like best about Wild Card? What did you like least?

Character development was good as was the premise for the story line...There was just an overwhelming amount of sex that was annoying because the narrator couldn't make me feel anything but annoyed that it took so long. also Lora could have spent less time saying the same thing over and over, I got that things were different in the early days of the marriage the first time she explained it.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I found the story line interesting but the reasons for Nathan not returning home to Bella weren't very plausible. I could see him being self absorbed or having self pity and in pain and fear of hurting Bella, but when he's with her he isn't even surprised that he seems so normal. Their relationship seems normal. The sex scenes were meant to be over the top but didn't do much for me.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Clarissa did an ok job, just didn't care for her rendition of the emotional side of the book

Could you see Wild Card being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not so much

Any additional comments?

I've said it before, a regular story can be made better by the narrator, and a good story can be hard to listen to with the wrong narrator. Reading is so much different that audio because if all the dots don't connect just right, a fantastic book is just ok. I like Lora Leigh's writing and will listen to more of her books, was just disappointed that this wasn't one of the really good ones as it had the potential to be. I will also say it was worth the credit and I did finish the book, although I did speed it up to do so.

Wish I had got this one sooner!

Would you listen to Wild Card again? Why?

Yes, it was not what I expected. It was more! When I read the summary I got the impression it would be somewhat boring. I read reviews and saw so many liked it, so I finally decided to try it. I'm glad I did.

What other book might you compare Wild Card to and why?

I think it's a little like the Wicked Lovers Series by Shayla Black.

Any additional comments?

It's one that I'll enjoy again and I already got the next book in this series before I finished listening to this one.

Wonderful!!

Love my audio smut!! and Lora is one of my favourite raunchy authors. Well narrated and I didn't get bored at any point, big plus given the 15 hour sit.

If you like Lora's other books this one won't disappoint.

Only complaint is having wait till the next book is released.

A sizzling read

What did you like best about Wild Card? What did you like least?

I really liked how strong the heroin turned out to be at the end of the novel. The story itself was interesting with plenty of twists and turns to keep you listening. I must say the sex scenes alone made the book worth reading. You could almost say it was excessive but they were so well written they didn't get boring. I didn't like how long it took for the truth to be revealed either. It made a somewhat believable story overly dramatic and irritating at times.

If you’ve listened to books by Lora Leigh before, how does this one compare?

I've read the second book in this series and in my opinion it was even better than this one. It's next to impossible to find an extremely well written erotica novel but Lora's are far from the worst I've encountered.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I've always enjoyed Clarissa's voice. I think she struggles a bit through sex scenes and I did find myself cringe once or twice but I highly doubt I could do any better. Either way I find her pleasant to listen to and she has a way of making a story exciting.

Was Wild Card worth the listening time?

Absolutely.

Any additional comments?

If you're looking for a sexy escape from every day life definitely get this book.

Great twist, kept me listening.

What did you like best about Wild Card? What did you like least?

I didn't like the fact that it was really part II of a series, because I prefer to start at the beginning of a series. It was a good story.
