Publisher's summary

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless - and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost…until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation - or her ultimate damnation?

Wicked Angels, mmmm…

This is a spin-off of the Lord of the Underworlds and should be read after The Darkest Seduction. Start with The Darkest Night if you haven't read Lord of the Underworlds yet. And if you are a fan of LOTU then this is a must read. New characters are added and there sounds like there will be lots more books to come. I better watch out that a demon does not possess me, because it sounds so easy, and I don't have a sexy angel looking out for my back. Narrator was great as usual.

Great story so so narration

I have listened to almost all of Gena Showalter's books and really like the quirks and sense of fun some of them have. This story has some of those same qualities with cameos by the Lords of the Underworld yum.. I found the pacing of the narration to be s l o w like the reader was bored or needed a cup of coffee maybe a double shot of espresso. I liked the plot and the characters just wish it really had been Max Bellmore. This was not a great pairing. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose I call this one a draw. If you need a book to listen to this one isn't bad, just don't expect Phil Gigante or Robert Petkoff.

Awesome protagonists with meh surroundings.

Heeeeeey, this was pretty good! I was in the mood for a mindless romance and that's pretty much what I got. I’ve never heard of this series or this author before in my life, but the angel thing intrigued me. I was thinking/hoping this would be the adult version of Angelfall —literally the only other angel book I’ve ever read—and can report they’re absolutely nothing alike. Well, besides the whole ancient winged angel falling for a young human thing. Cue eye roll. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying this story anyway!

First of all, let me say that I thought the narrator of this book was excellent! Bellmore had a great voice that captured my attention immediately and did a wonderful job voicing the characters.

The two main protagonists are actually pretty awesome and they’re really what kept me going with this. I loved Annabelle! She was tough with a great sense of humor and I didn’t find her annoying like I usually do with the female heroines in romance novels. And I surprisingly liked Zacharel too, especially once he started getting some and loosening up a little. A hottie who forcibly can’t lie to you? Ummmm, yes please! I can totally understand how people could find his character flat, but to be fair, that’s kind of the point. He’s like the Grinch growing a heart when he discovers love.

I will say that I got a little bored during Thane’s parts. I didn’t really like his character or his friends at all and started tuning out his sections after a while. And I didn’t really understand the importance his storyline had to the main plot between Zacharel and Annabel??? It offered a different perspective on what was going on sometimes, but it was mostly separate. This thing dragged on a little too long and cutting out some of his parts would help a looooooot.

Actually, speaking of being drawn out, it felt like this book just went on and on and on. I was invested in the beginning, but by the end I was REALLY struggling to continue. Once I got about 80% through I had to force myself to keep going because I kind of stopped caring. This audiobook was 12 hours long, but I feel like it should really be only 8 or 9.

Luckily there’s a huge twist at the end that managed to wake me up because DAAAAANG! Did not see that coming.

FINAL WORD
Eh. *Shrugs* I really liked the beginning half, but was over it by the end. I’d say read it if you need to remember what an honest man sounds like.

I loved this storyline, but...

This book was very enjoyable but I felt that the performance was a bit flat. This was surprising to me because I have listened to other books narrated by Mr. Bellmore that were quite good. While the performance was flat in my opinion, it was not ruinous.

As for the book, it was fast-paced with a twist that I was not expecting. I enjoyed how the romance developed between Zacharel and Annabelle and the changes that we got to see in Zacharel. This was a book where I had trouble turning it off.

This book is worth a credit.

Kept my interest, light reading

I thought this author was a Jr. writer with lots of potential. Then I found out she had another, well liked, series!! Would not have guest. The story was interesting and could have been really exciting if the dialouge hadn't flipped between adolescent and mature language. I understand the main character was a teenager but it just felt awkward even during the romantic scenes. Overall the story kept my interest and I had fun with the strong silent type angels.

Wicked Nights

What did you love best about Wicked Nights?

I loved how the author wrote The 2 main characters. They were both opposites that attracted and I also loved the ending of the story. Very excited for a second book to come out next year.

What other book might you compare Wicked Nights to and why?

I might compare Wicked Nights to Heather Killough-Walden's Lost Angels series! They are both about archangels and them having problems finding their mates and wars in the process. Both amazing series.

Have you listened to any of Max Bellmore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have listened to any other performance by him but I thought he did a great job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when we found out that Zacharel's brother was alive and he had to choose. It was just a shocking moment in the story that you definantly didn't see coming.
