"Another smooth story from Ms Roberts"

I love a book where the main character has great respect for the women in his life and the affection Eli had for his grandmother, Hesta was well written, as was the gradual integration of Eli into Whiskey Beach and with the love of Abra Walsh helping him to taking control of his life again. It was a nice journey to be part of.

"Middle of the road for N.R."
Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Luke Daniels?

I would. He did a surprisingly good job of the men and women's voices and making sure you always knew who was talking.

Would you be willing to try another book from Nora Roberts? Why or why not?

I love Nora Roberts but this book could not compare to the Witness or Montana Sky which I consider her bests.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He captures the unique voices and feelings if each character.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No. There really isn't that much action. This is just an easy listen if you're looking to pass the time.

    Any additional comments?

I hope Nora Roberts gets back to her greats like northern lights. This book didn't feel very well thought out to me. I enjoyed it but would not listen to it again like I've done with many of her books.

    "Whiskey Beach"
Would you listen to another book narrated by Luke Daniels?

When downloaded, the reader was Peter Berkrot. I listened to eleven chapters and received an email from Audible informing me that the audiobook had been replaced due to listener reviews. The remainder of the book was narrated by Luke Daniels. I had no problem with narration.

    Any additional comments?

Honestly, I'm struggling with the proper tone of this review. I admire Roberts, any struggling author would. The J. D. Robb In Death series alone is enviable, let alone all the other best selling books and made-for-TV gems this author has penned. The story of Whiskey Beach is okay, I guess, typical boy-gets-girl love story, ultimately. Throw in some murder, mystery, and an ancient mansion overlooking a wind-swept beach and you have a winner.

One of my issues with this story doesn't have anything to do with a tried and true formula, which Roberts has perfected. It's more along the lines of writing conventions that successful veteran writers ignore. An example is point of view. In Whiskey Beach, today's acceptable standards are ignored. If submitted by an unknown writer, this book is likely headed to the slush pile. Personally, the double standard is a bit hard to take. If you're a Nora Roberts, the rules don't apply. The book is enjoyable, albeit a bit formulaic. A three-star read.

    "Much better with new narrator."

A clever story with twists and turns as well as many personalities. Even though the characters are as different as night and day, Ms. Roberts makes them work.

    "Simply Audilicious!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a great listen. The story was captivating and the narration was superbly done; far better than the original.

What other book might you compare Whiskey Beach to and why?

Whiskey Beach is very much in the category of Nora Roberts' Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy...full of suspense, humor, and of course ROMANCE! There are parts where you just have to laugh out loud!

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to Luke Daniels in the Iron Druid Chronicles series by Kevin Hearne, and was so excited to see that he was the narrator for this re-record. He was OUTSTANDING as usual!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have LOVED to listen to this story all at one time, but, as that was not possible, I made sure to do what I usually do and re-listen to the last few minutes where I left off so I could get back into the story. However, that really wasn't necessary because I found that I was quickly and totally submerged within 30 seconds of returning!

    Any additional comments?

Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, so I did enjoy the story the first time I listened to it when I originally purchased it. However, the narration of the re-record was such a vast improvement over the original version that it was like I hadn't really heard it before at all! It was entertaining and full of suspense and fun! I truly believe that Luke Daniels' talent was the perfect compliment to Nora's! True synergy!

    "Had you til the end."
If you could sum up Whiskey Beach in three words, what would they be?

    A blast from the past.

What did you like best about this story?

The strong grandmother, a family value.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Luke Daniels?

    Not sure

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Not really

    Any additional comments?

I felt it was a little drawn out, but the writer covered all the angles.

    "Narrator ruined this book"
Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Luke Daniels?

Where to begin. I enjoyed my last Nora Roberts book on audio so much I decided to listen to this one on audio too. Big mistake. Sorry, but the narrator's voice was way too distracting for me. It was raspy and comical when he tried to do female voices. It took me till almost 3/4 of the way through before I stopped hearing his voice and actually hearing the story instead.
I am sure I would have enjoyed this book much more had I read it, but I paid for the audio and wasn't going to just waste that money

Would you recommend Whiskey Beach to your friends? Why or why not?

    Not on audio

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The voice- my heavens. Terrible narration.

I was able to get through the whole book, but the mystery seemed fabricated. I love all of her earlier stories, but have been dissapointed lately with her new ones.

"Tried and true - you can always count on Nora"

I learned long ago that Nora Roberts has a formula, but it works. Anytime I want an easy read with great character development, a little mystery, some hesitation before admitting love, and then a happy ending, I know to grab her latest book. I'm not sure how she keeps coming up with different combinations, but I always enjoy them and am always missing the characters just a bit.

She didn't disappoint. Great beach read!

"A really top Listen! Great story & well read!"

This is right up there with Witness. I loved how the improbable relationship seemed to take an age to develop. I was able to listen to this Book over long journeys which seemed to be over just minutes after I had set out!
I thoroughly recommend this Book! It was beautifully narrated and had me seriously considering taking up Yoga!
