William, the sixth Duke of Pelham, enjoys his punctual, securely structured life. Orderly and predictable-that's the way he likes it. But he's in the public eye, and the scandal sheets will make up anything to sell papers. When the gossips link him to Juliette, one of the most beautiful and celebrated courtesans in London, chaos doesn't begin to describe what happens next....
Juliette is nicknamed the Duchess of Dalliance, and has the cream of the nobility at her beck and call. It's seriously disruptive to have the duke who's the biggest catch on the Marriage Mart scaring her other suitors away. Then she discovers William's darkest secret and decides what he needs in his life is the kind of excitement only she can provide....

love audio books - Anglophile
This is a personal pet peeve of mine, but as soon as I heard the narrator's American accent for a an English romance, I stopped listening. Since this was a pre-order and I was not familiar with this narrator, I took a chance. I won't make that mistake again. I also cancelled my pre-order of the second book in the audio series as it's read by the same narrator.
Say at home mom/ wife.... Children are grown. Have 4 Grandchildren. Like to listen to books while I quilt.
I'm sorry to say this but the Performance was so Bad I had to turn off!! Save your time get the book and read it!
This was a unique story, for a historical romance, with intriguing plot twists and good depth of characters. Naturally the love scenes were fun. But there were many more aspects of society brought into this story, such as the few choices women had, the expectations of the peerage, the expected roles of parents. All that made it quite an interesting listen. As for the narration, personally it was nice to be able to distinguish the dialog from the rest of the text. If you prefer all English accent for the entire book, don't get this one. But for me, this narrator seemed to capture various accents quite well. I readily knew which character was speaking. It was a nice change in narration, as I have many other audible books read by Prebble, Landor, Eyre, Flosnik, and I like those narrators as well. The variety keeps them from becoming routine. Can't wait to listen to the next in this series and find out more about 'Lucifer' and the other heroines.
This is such a fun series! I wish they had more of Shana Galen's books on audio! Can't wait to listen to If You Give a Rake A Ruby!
Graduated college, got a job, got married, traveled, had children. Breathing air and growing hair.
I thought this book had an unique plot. I was intrigued and glad I bought this story. The writing was excellent. I will look for the next book in the series. The main characters were described so vividly this provided extra depth to the book. Although I listened to the sample I think the Britspeak disappeared except when there was dialogue. This did not bother me overmuch as I was so enthralled by the story. This will not win any awards for narration but to me well worth the listen. Check out an audio sample if you are on the fence. The narrator's voice quality is very nice.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
Juliette is the talk of the ton on a regular basis. From what Juliette is wearing to who she is sleeping with gossip about her is served up daily in the scandal sheets. You would think a girl would hate having her business spread all over the ton paper but Juliette wouldn't have it any other way.
William is set to be married with a suitable bride when the Duchess of Dalliance strolls into his life. When this diamond meets this Duke the two embark on a romance loaded with action and mystery making this story impossible to put down and addicting to read.
Let me start off by saying I listened to this book in one day. I literally would silence anyone who interrupted my listening with a death glare. I was hooked from the start of this story. I really enjoy how the story just keeps unfolding and nothing is what it seems and no one is who they claim to be, and it is brilliant.
When You Give a Duke a Diamond stars my favourite type of lovers, hate lovers. In the beginning they can't stop fighting and bickering but after a series of unfortunate events the two reluctantly become stuck together and that is where the fun kicks off.
I loved the story so much and I won't give-away all the details that had me clutching the pages learning about these characters, but you will be surprised. Each character is so cleverly written I fell in love with all of them. I can't wait until the next book in the Jewels of the Ton series is release because I am dying to jump back into the world Shana Galen has created.
I recommend this book to adult readers and lovers of historical romance as there are sex scenes.
I like Lucy Rivers as a narrator and thought she did a good job with the delivery of the story.
Book addict, romance lover, sometimes blogger, and everyday librarian!

I enjoyed the heroine Juliette a lot. She took command of her life and set out to make it the way she wanted it.
I was amazed at the different female British voices she conveyed. I had no trouble distinguishing between them, even when I let the story carry me away.
This book blew me away! I was expecting a tame and uneventful story, and instead got a story that kept me engrossed. It had a little intrigue, original characters, and a romance that I not only liked but believed in.
I just found a new narrator to add to my favorites list!
Rather than "historical romance," I'd call this historical chick lit. But if you are looking for a simple light hearted story, then this may fit the bill. It isn't at all intellectual. And it isn't one of those books that gives you goose bumps as the romance develops.
I didn't care for the narrator at all. Her voices & accents are terrible - particularly the men.
I'm all about challenging myself lately so I'm using books to do that. They inspire & engage me so I can see what works. Reading is my life.
Yes, I didn't want to stop listening. I did want to beat the male character but you know men are just stupid anyway.
This was a great story: murder, mystery and romance. Loved Will and Juliette. Loved Fallon and Lily. Loved Warrick. Would have hated Will's father if he hadn't been dead. Lucifer was just evil and I wonder where he went and if he'll be back. The story itself was as entertaining as any book I've ever read as I do get tired of just a love story and nothing else. This book had it all. And lots of great sex too.
As to the narrator? Loved her. She did a fantastic job with every voice. One reviewer didn't like that she read without an English accent then did the accent when someone spoke. I absolutely loved that she did that because you knew exactly when someone spoke. She was awesome! I can't wait for her to hear her again.
