Publisher's summary

How much is too much to love?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire's New York Times best seller Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it's time to see the story through Travis's eyes.

Great narration

5 stars for the narration + 3 stars storyline = 4 stars overall

I found the first book an entertaining experience and enjoyed the thrill of the whirlwind romance that's Travis and Abby. But listening to Walking Disaster kind of made me realise I didn't really want to re-live the same story a second time. I fast-forwarded a large chunk of the story cause many of the described events didn't have enough intrigues to hold my interest a 2nd time even from a different POV.

Having said that I think Jamie McGuire did a fantastic job establishing Travis' character. His violent ways and codependent attachment to Abby now make a lot more sense after this book. Not saying they're now justified but you kind of can see how he became the person he was and that made the epilogue that much more heartwarming. I can give only 3 stars to the story however because I lost my interest during the middle 60% of the story.

The narrator did a very good job. I wouldn't mind seeking out other books narrated by him.

Perfect!

I think I prefer this story to the original! It doesn't go chapter by chapter with the 1st but, close. Love the detailed ending. Well Worth the credit.

Smutt

If you read and love beautiful disaster, you’ll like this one. It is the same story, unfortunately not many new scenes were added (felt like they could of filled more open holes with new content) that being said it’s interesting how the same story viewed through different eyes can change the narrative. In beautiful disaster Abby seems like the sweat innocent girl who gets treated questionably and played by some guy. In walking disaster Abby appears as the ignorant or oblivious girl playing Travis emotional first love experience. She’s the one treating him like dirt.

An Amazing Performance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would only recommend this to someone who had read and loved the first book, Beautiful Disaster.

What other book might you compare Walking Disaster to and why?

This book is exactly like the last book, as far as the story goes. There are a few new scenes, and a few scenes are dropped. But even a lot of the dialogue tags are just converted over. There are several times where the POV slips, and we are told something we could only know from Abby's POV, even though this is Travis's book.

What about Dan Bittner’s performance did you like?

The vocal performance was utterly amazing. So much emotion came through, that let me really connect with Travis in what felt like a very intimate, personal way. Listening to it, it sounded very real, almost like I was in the room with them. He brought the characters to life.

I wish more authors would do this.

When I bought this book and Beautiful Disaster I had treated myself to three other books. Well a week later I have yet to hear the others meanwhile I've listed to BD 3x & I'm on the 5th time around with WD. It's amazing how the second book that covers Travis' point of view could actually be better than the first. Countless times while listening to a book with my favorite couple the author chooses one point of view to go over and not the other. But I want to know what the other half is going through while the author is talking about...let's say the main character's pain. You feel the whole experience of the love & lost, happiness & pain. And in Walking Disaster the ending is one of the sweetest one I've ever heard. The narrator Dan Bittner does an outstanding job. So much so he brought me to tears a few times. Each book could stand on their own but so so worth getting them both.
Beautiful Disaster & Walking Disaster have quickly become 2 of my all time favorite book. Find out why.

Travis Maddox is one of my Favorite Characters

I love Travis' point of view. I can't get enough of it! I have read this book a couple times - I loved Abby's POV until I ready it from Travis'. I absolutely love this series - what a roller coaster ride!
