Hailed as a major talent in paranormal romance, Nalini Singh takes us deeper into the world of the Psy and the changelings in her latest extraordinary novel, where a gifted woman sees passion in her future---a passion that is absolutely forbidden by her kind. In danger from the Psy, Faith NightStar's fragile sanity will be tested by an all-consuming passion for a changeling who can take the form of man or jaguar.
Mind over matter: listen to more in the Psy-Changeling series.

I love listening to audio books because I have little time to read. Faves are paranormal/sci-fi, with romance & inspirational thrown in.
After being an Audible subscriber for more than 2 yrs, I have lots of audio books in my library. 586 to be specific. I've listened to more than 500 and I've gotten really picky about buying a series. Well, this series is definitely a keeper. The characters are strong and the erotic scenes are not as graphic as some authors. I purchased this book on sale but it hooked me enough that I bought book number one (and several others). I have not been disappointed.
I'm a grad student with very little time to edit reviews because I'm editing research papers. Forgive the typos. They're made with love.
It's a nice follow up to the first book in the series and gives you a better handle on the world built by Singh.
This book involves changelings, which are like weres and shifters, and a race of mental-powered people called psy. So if you haven't experienced a book like this, this series is a great one to start with. However, begin with the first book - this stands along, sort of, but it's not as good that way.
Angela Dawe has a great ability to sound somewhat robotic as a human, and while that has others complaining on different novels, it's perfect for this series. She does male voices rather well too.
Faith is one of the more delicate psy you will come across and Vaughn is a rather large jaguar with a serious dominant streak. Watching these opposites play against each other was fun.
I enjoyed this book but rated it compared to the others in the series - you can definitely see Singh grow as a writer, so this novel isn't as strong as others, but it's still a great story which will lead you to the amazing book 3.
The plot of the book was very similar to the first book with regards to the two main characters. There were enough differences to keep it interesting and there was a lot more information given about the psy world. I really liked the way this book fleshed out the world of the psy and the changelings. The two main characters were likable and the differences in them from the couple in the first book were intersting. The knowledge gained in what is going on in this world in general and how it works was really fascinating and the world itself is very layered. The narrator did a good job, though I wouldn't say she's one of my favorites.
Say something about yourself!
This is book 2....while I would have preferred more hot scenes the chemistry was scorching! This series is worth getting into, imagine a world populated by humans, changelings (think shifters), and the Psy....an emotionless species that is gifted mentally with things from predictions to telekinesis, to being capable of crippling an opponent with their minds....in order to eliminate violence from their lives they have purposely removed emotions from themselves through training from birth....but the system is flawed!
I look at it this way...there are 11 books and all have a rating above 4. If its your kind of thing go ahead and start the series!
Reading is a must-have ESCAPE...
Overall good story though very similar to the first installment. Faith is a foreseer Psy as opposed to Sascha's empath nature. Foreseers are rare & very valuable to the Psy community as one might expect. She seems to specialize in predicting investments which makes her especially sought after. Vaughn, a jaguar changeling, is enamored with her from the start and she eventually relents. Vaughn & Faith's experience is very much like that of Lucas & Sascha.
Angela Dawe's narration was good.
Yes, I do believe if you read the book, you'll love it. Listening does not give it justice. The narrator portrays all the woman and men the same. It takes a lot of talent for a story teller to get the male and female voices straight, and this one absolutely does not. I have to backtrack to understand which woman is speaking. And all the males sound the same. I understand that the population of Psi is supposed to have absolutely no feeling but the monotone interpretation seems to run through the story. The narrator is just ok.
I wonder if the other reviews came from the Amazon website because I noticed it kept saying "good read". And this book is probably a good read but it's absolutely a boring listen.
I always enjoy Nalini Singh. This story was pretty easy flowing. Also, narration on this book was matched really well with the characters.
I just started listening to Ms. Singh and WOW! I am impressed. I always get leery when I try a new author, but she is awesome. Just downloaded the Guild Hunter Series, can't wait to read!
I love this series. I don't usually read romance novels but the world is so rich that I can't stop listening. I want to know what is going to happen to the world and all these great characters. I loved the first book in the series but when I finished this one I thought the plots were going to get repetitive. So I almost didn't keep listening after this book. However, I loved the third book in the series and the complexity of the world is just getting introduced In visions of heat. If you are like me and not usually a romance reader but liked the first one keep going!
