Good listen

In keeping with the first book, this one delivered just as well. Loved Faith’s innocence most of all and appreciated the glimpse of the other characters. Think I found a fav but gonna wait to see if he’ll get his story. On to the next!

Visions of Heat

Book 2 is just as intriguing as book 1 was. Faith is someone you can’t help but want to see protected. She has been so very alone for so long that you root for her.

Vaughn is delicious, I said it he is. His animal is at the surface more and he is more dominant that way then the other changelings but you will understand once you read his story.

I never got the impression Faith was ever scared of him more like she seeks him out and his need for touch cemented their connection.

This story had more suspense then the last one did and it really sucks you in. Because this bad energy is trying to take Faith and you KNOW Vaughn isn’t going to let that happen.

I just really liked how different this series is. I will say it takes time to get used to the narration but once you do, you see it as part of the characters. I kinda love that.

Purrrr…….

I am really enjoying the Psy-Changling series. I can’t help but think of the Psy as Vulcans (I know my trekkie side is showing) with their non-emotional links to everything. The case of Faith NightStar goes beyond even the regular psy treatment as she is kept isolated from other people so she can sit in a monitored chair all day and give physic predictions. During some of those sessions, Faith has a prediction of a killer. Since psy are supposed to be emotionless it doesn’t seem possible that there is a psy killer. So of course, she thinks she is going crazy and that any day now she will be taken away to the funny farm.

Not only is Faith emotionally isolated from others but physically isolated also. That is until the changeling Vaughn stumbles across her isolated (but very well guarded) compound.

Vaughn, who is kind of a loner himself, takes it as a personal challenge to break in and see what is going on. Just as he is about to break in, he sees Faith breaking out. He is drawn to touch Faith at every possible moment. For a women not used to being touched it takes all Faith’s willpower (or won’t power in this case) to keep away from Vaughn. His closeness overwhelms her senses and sends her into an emotional overload. He is convinced she will get used to it, she is convinced it will kill her.

Although I enjoyed this story overall, I think there were some HUGE leaps made in this story. For example, if I was as emotionally and physically sheltered as Faith was, I don’t think one of the first places I would reach out to touch a guy would be on his ‘manhood’. I think that would be one of the last places I would be able to handle. Think about the emotional turmoil that goes with doing something like that during a regular relationship. Just saying ….

The Narration Review
This audiobook was narrated by Angela Dawe. Once again, I felt like she was rushing through the book. Maybe she had a time slot she needed to get this book into, I don’t know. I always find myself checking to see if I accidently set my iPod on 1 ½ speed. LoL

Book Two of a New Series!

After being an Audible subscriber for more than 2 yrs, I have lots of audio books in my library. 586 to be specific. I've listened to more than 500 and I've gotten really picky about buying a series. Well, this series is definitely a keeper. The characters are strong and the erotic scenes are not as graphic as some authors. I purchased this book on sale but it hooked me enough that I bought book number one (and several others). I have not been disappointed.

Start with this book, then listen to the first one

When writing fantasy, Ms. Singh does a great job of creating heroines you can really root for. Some are bad ass fighters and some simply possess the kind of internal strength that lets them meet the challenges they face with dignity and resolution. Faith doesn't have to be a kick ass super star fighter to face down the scary stuff. She does it with smarts and the support of her mate.

Having listened to the second book now, the first book, "Slave to Sensation", is more enjoyable. My biggest gripe was with the concept of a group of psychics choosing to become emotionally neutered. Human consciousness is emotion with a patter of reasoning wrapped around it. Deny the emotions and of course you're going to have serious mental breakdowns.

This book provides more insight into what drove that decision and the very serious consequences it's having in the story's larger world. It's the set up that the first book didn't get to.

There's a slight bit of spoiler in the second book if you haven't read the first, but clearing up that bit of world building made a huge impact on how much more I was able to enjoy the first book.

timeing

I love the story& the inflection that was Don for the audion. But for almost all the chapter heads there was no pause. Ether right at the last work or right as the first ,there was a monatoan chapter 3 or what ever that through me...but that's the only thing I didn't like. 👍

Not as good as the first but still very well done!

I was so impressed with book 1 of this series that it was inevitable that book 2 would be a little of a let down. I didn't find this book to be as engaging, as believable or as fulfilling as the previous. That's not to stay it's not still good. I did immediately finish this book and purchase 3 more, so it's definitely still great. Just not as great, so be prepared for that.

This book seemed too 'easy' on the female character. I can justify the ease with with the female from the first book moved from one world to the other given the nature of her talents. This one though, should have been harder. By the end, it seemed like there was too much reliance on the previous book's resolution for this female's crossing over.

I know that's vague, but I don't want to give too much away. It's definitely worth reading, the story between the two main characters is still touching and fun and Nalini conintues the development of her world here, so it continues to be worthwhile even if things wound up a little too 'pat'.

Interesting plot!

Visions of Heat has another Psy/Changeling pairing. This is Vaughn and Faith's story. I did like the first book better but this was still very good. I think I wanted to see this couple have more time together in the book.

Vaughn is one of my favorite types of heroes. He quiet, deadly with a very strong presence. He comes off a bit cold. Faith is the exact opposite. She comes off as very innocent and sweet but still has a backbone. I liked these two paired together.

Another interesting plot and much more to discover.
