And then there is Marcus Carter, who has been linked to both Gayle and Pat since the tragedy that occurred when they were all children. Can either one save him from himself? Can friends survive a love that comes between them? Each of them gets what she wants, but no one counts on the price they have to pay.

Publisher's Summary

From the time they were young, Gayle and Patricia were raised like sisters, as close as two friends could be. But they each had dreams that would take them far away - and far away from each other.

Gayle was the beauty who believed that a man could make her life complete. Patricia was the intellectual who thought that rising to the top of her career would make her happy. And then there is Marcus Carter, who has been linked to both Gayle and Pat since the tragedy that occurred when they were all children. Can either one save him from himself? Can friends survive a love that comes between them? Each of them gets what she wants, but no one counts on the price they have to pay.

When they realize that dreams can be hollow and love has its cost, they learn the most important lessons of all: to never give up on the people who love you, and that it isn't just blood that makes two people sisters.

    Story
    "Had me from the start"
Would you listen to Tryin' To Sleep In the Bed You Made again? Why?

Yes. It was extremely well written and believable. The character development was superb and so relatable this could have easily been a true story. Conversations and attitudes of these characters is so on point, bringing back great memories of growing up in Brooklyn and Queens and the straightforwardness that seems only comes from NY culture and hanging out from teen to adult in "the city". Having lived on both coasts and in the south and so far there's no place like NY (plug,plug...smile).

Please note there is some foul language and some descriptive but non graphic sexual activity throughout this book. ( I personally think audio books should come with a system warning explicit language...I ordered a book where each character seemed to take turns dropping the F word in every first or second sentence....I couldn't take it) The narrator seemed just a little out of sorts or tired in the 14th and/or 15th chapters I believe but recovered nicely and may not be that noticeable to everyone.

What other book might you compare Tryin' To Sleep In the Bed You Made to and why?

Well, I haven't read to many books of this kind...but I would say "Can I Get a Witness?"By ReShonda Tate Billingsley. Narrated by Kim Brockington sans foul language.

Which character – as performed by Fran L. Washington – was your favorite?

I thought Ms. Washington did an excellent job and very convincing.... although she slipped a bit with the detectives accent. I suppose if I had to choose it would be Marcus.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have to say I did laugh ...no tears though and although I did have my doubts about Ramsey, me being so engrossed in the story I was genuinely surprised by his character in the end.

    Any additional comments?

A Good story is only half a story without a good narrator and as many know a bad narrator can sour the whole experience......I was excited about listening to the other books by Virginia DeBerry and Donna Grant however, when I listened to other narrators samples it was a turn off....although I may still give them a try... these authors should've stuck with this narrator!

    "Always kept my attention"

These two ladies can write! Great character development, food for thought, and a swell example of the way Real Life ebbs and flows. A good listen for anyone who holds childhood friendships and memories dear, and likes to ponder the often dramatic twists and turns of adulthood. Old memories and events can serve as platforms and/or sink holes. One way or the other, they need to be dealt with. Very satisfying.
