Publisher's summary

Scientist Maryse Robicheaux thought that a lot of her problems had gone away with her mother-in-law's death. The woman was rude, pushy, manipulative and used her considerable wealth to run herd over the entire town of Mudbug, Louisiana.

Unfortunately, death doesn't slow down Helena one bit.

DEA Agent Luc LeJeune is wondering what his undercover assignment investigating the sexy scientist has gotten him into - especially as it seems someone wants her dead. Keeping his secrets while protecting Maryse proves to be easier than fighting his attraction for the brainy beauty.

Cute, quirky, fun...but the wheels fell off.

Would you try another book from Jana DeLeon and/or Johanna Parker?

Maybe, but not straight away.

Any additional comments?

Was pretty good overall, but the ending was a bit over done. Slash 50 pages from the back end of the book and I wouldn't hesitate to rate it 4 Stars.

Entertaining

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like it when the reader performs multiple character voices that are befitting to the characters itself. It really helps to bring the stories to life.

Easy & Entertaining

Overall this was a nice diversion. The story line is uncomplicated and predictable but entertaining. I suspect I enjoyed it more as an audible than I might have had I read it - primarily because of the reader. Good book for beach or plane.

Surprisingly good!

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator is amazing! She did great with the accents and had really good timing. She is my favorite female narrator.
The pro's and con's in this book.
Pro: The author LOVES details.
Con: The author loves details. A bit exhausting at times.
Pro: The story was so far out of left field, but the author keeps you on the edge of your seat through most of it.
Con: There was a LOT of repetitive dialog. To the point of being redundant. It came off a bit OCD.
Pro: The story was really funny. The characters, especially the mother-in-law and her various outfits!!!

A little cute with my romance

I enjoyed listening to this story and I have started following the series. It nice to have a laugh and a smile while listen to a good romance story. All romance story don't have to have tears to be good and this one is one of whose.

Do you like Wanda Sikes?

I LOVED the 'Miss Fortune' series. I listened to them over the span of a week, and found the person doing the narration enjoyable. She made the wacky characters endearing and realistic.
Not so with this narrator.
I couldn't even finish this book, which I've only done one other time. The characters were waaay overdone, and half of them sounded like Wanda Sikes impersonators. Evidently, that's how this narrator feels that people from Louisiana sound??
I just couldn't connect or get into this book, and this book is in my favorite genre. It just got annoying.
