I liked the relationship development, they were a great team. I did not especially care of the Narrators version of an aristocratic italian count accent and speech patterns, but it was not so bad that it keep me from enjoying the story.
I have never been much of a reader until I discovered Audible!!!!
Who doesn't love a story of love, betrayal and steamy elevator scenes? The narration was so dull. Every male character had a raspy old voice and it was hard to tell them apart. This book takes place in Chicago and NO CHICAGO ACCENTS! The mob characters sound like New Yorkers. If you can get past all that, the story keeps you involved and entertained.
I bought this book a while ago along with a couple others and im now getting around to listening to them and this one i was just not completely thrilled with. I was a bit slow and tedious compared to some of her others. Amanda Ronconi is always a good narrator just not impressed with the story line.
Yes, I really like Amanda Ronconi as a narrator.
I wouldn't cut a scene the whole book was just slow moving for me and the story line wasnt that impressive compared to some of her other books.
I will still continue listening to Christina Dodd's books majority of them are very well written and very well narrated by Amanda.
Mu favorites are paranormal, supernatural, post-apocalyptic, and horror!
I suppose this book was pleasant and enjoyable in the moment, but i currently find myself shocked that i just read it earlier this month and already cannot remember much of it. So it was not very memorable! I suppose that this makes me less qualified to write an accurate review with any further details. It was short and easy to read and i may read it again in the future -especially since i cannot remember it already!
Give me water to swim and surf in. That with a glass of white wine and the sun. That's heaven.
Its a love story about a coming of age young lady who goes to her fiance in Chicago after graduating from Law School, only to discover that the man she was engaged to had gotten another woman pregnant and is in Vegas.
When Brandy tries to keep her lover safe, despite knowing that he had lied to her.
Amanda Ronconi brings a lilting joy and warmth to her characters.
No extreme reaction except that at times it seemed to take forever before it came to a different chapter.
Really enjoyed this book. This was a new author to me that I tried during a sale, and I'm glad I did! The story was solid with a few LOL's, but the mystery kept me guessing almost until the very end. If you like Janet Evanovich type chic lit, you will enjoy this book!
Janet Evanovich books...fun mystery with a little romance blended in
Audio books give my eyes a break...
What I didn't like was some of the voices, they were not convincing and really down right annoying (leading man), nor did I like the overly described sex scenes (there's a difference between sexy and pornographic...relative I'm sure). Finally, the narrator did well translating some characters such as the lead female and her mom, dad, uncle for instance, on the other hand she sounded under aged and to matter of fact in much of the rest of the narration to me.
More than one narrator...
The sex scenes were to much for me....I would cut them, or at minimum tone them down.
I found this story totally ridiculous, funny and somewhat entertaining.
Funny, fast moving, charming
I liked the main characters.
No. She did a fine job, except the Count's accent.
I have read several of Christina Dodds historical romances, so being a little familiar with her books decided to take a chance on this one. As with the Regency books, this one has the Italian Count instead of a Duke, Earl etc. It is a modern fun, light hearted take on the same type of book. Sometimes this type fits the bill after serious books. I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the story. The characters were well developed and the story line flowed. I loved the relationships with the relatives and the ending was definitely cute. None of the characters played the idiot or came across as stupid. I had a feeling about what was coming in the story line but it was well done. I didn't feel like I might as well give up because I knew what was going to happen. Truly the only problem I have with the book at all is the accent that the narrator uses for her male heroes in the books. Sadly, she has had this problem with another series. Usually her secondary characters have better fitting voices then the lead male voice. I am usually able to move beyond it enough to enjoy the book but I so would perfer a more masculine voice that fit the character. Please don't get me wrong, I love her voices for her female leads and she is great at the humor part of her roles. (She is great in Nice Girls: Jane Jamison series except for Gabriel's voice. She carries the humor part of the characters and first person narration wonderfully, but Gabriel's accent makes him come across as something less then an alpha type male.) When she has a male voice that doesn't require a foreign accent, she does a great job.
