No reality to intrude on the soft core porn

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The soft core porn passed the time but the characters just didn't have any depth and there was no one i could be interested in. The heroine has a demeaning father and a showpiece mother now dumped by said father. She is magna cum laude from Vanderbilt (but it was hard to believe based on her response to anything). Obviously the basis for a long term relationship is looks, money and sex. Overall plot was cute, but hardly pretty clear from early in the book. If this is the product of a best selling romance writer, i guess that means the genre is pretty sad. Kerry Greenwook and Jane Lovering are much better.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

believable plot, intelligent characters, realistic motivation, some knowledge of law for a book about a lawyer, or how an elevator could be hacked, or security systems disabled (is this an example of Deus Ex Machina? for the follow up sex scene in the elevator, with semen dripping down her leg when rescued by the police?)

Was Trouble in High Heels worth the listening time?

I put major sections on 1.5 speed but i did listen to the end. It should be good listening when your concentration is else where.

Any additional comments?

The reader was very good but deserves opportunities to work on better books.

Very fun.

Very fun and engaging story. Little predictable but you do care about the main characters. In addition you find yourself smiling quite a bit.

Meh.

The book was fine. I enjoyed it from start to finish, but it took me several months to make it through. This was a book that I could only tolerate in small doses, it was just to trite and obvious. I wanted to like it, it had all the elements that I want it this kind of book: the mystery, the romance, the doodah of an ex; but the whole was not more than the sum of its parts. It was not a waste of a credit, but just be aware that this is what I often refer to as a "cotton candy" book. Light, obnoxiously sweet, and only to be handled in smallish bites.

A Jewel Thief Italian Count, and Lovely Lady Lawer

What made the experience of listening to Trouble in High Heels the most enjoyable?

I liked the relationship development, they were a great team. I did not especially care of the Narrators version of an aristocratic italian count accent and speech patterns, but it was not so bad that it keep me from enjoying the story.

Cute

If you could sum up Trouble in High Heels in three words, what would they be?

Funny, fast moving, charming

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the main characters.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. She did a fine job, except the Count's accent.

Any additional comments?

I have read several of Christina Dodds historical romances, so being a little familiar with her books decided to take a chance on this one. As with the Regency books, this one has the Italian Count instead of a Duke, Earl etc. It is a modern fun, light hearted take on the same type of book. Sometimes this type fits the bill after serious books. I enjoyed it.

Sweet Romance, Good Mystery

What made the experience of listening to Trouble in High Heels the most enjoyable?

The heroine, she was funny and she took no mess from anybody. She's a hoot to listen to when she dealt with everybody.

What did you like best about this story?

Who killed the pawn shop owner and why? I was really intrigued to see how that was going to end.

Any additional comments?

Good book, narrator is okay, but the story is so good it makes up for it.

Light reading

It was a cute story, a pleasant way to spend a few hours. The mother daughter relationship was well thought out and worked well into storyline. The romance was predictable.

The narrator had quite a few characters to portray and did a fairly good job with most but she should avoid Italian accents in the future...
