Editorial reviews

Laurann Dohner's Cyborg Seduction universe has always been a harsh and tragic environment for a young romance, but in Touching Ice, both the reserved, titular hero and the capable, clever heroine have new and more dangerous threats to face. Not only do they need to overcome their differences and past hurts, but the mysterious and ominous Markus Models and the ruthless Council that controls the cyborg society with an iron fist.

Mindy Kennedy spectacularly brings to life both Ice and Megan's perspectives in this sexy space romp's explosion of interplanetary incidents and passion that pushes the boundaries of how much they are willing to risk for love.

Publisher's summary

What can go wrong overseeing a bunch of android sex bots on an automated whorehouse in deep space? Great job, if Megan doesn’t die of boredom. Then she catches sight of the sexiest male she’s ever seen. On her grainy security monitor, she watches all his sexual exploits with the bots, and fantasizes. But that’s all she can do because he's a cyborg. Then fate steps in.

There’s a crash and Megan must escape or die. The cyborgs are rescuing the sex bots - taking them onboard their ship. She knows cyborgs hate humans. They’ll kill her if she asks for help so she devises an insane plan - pretend to be the most realistic sex bot ever made.

His name is Ice, and Megan is now his personal sex bot. He will satisfy every sexual fantasy she’s ever had - and as many more as she can dream up. She just has to figure out how to keep her big, sexy cyborg from discovering that she is all woman.

Good addition to the series

Any additional comments?

The narrator is the reason that I have purchased every audio book in this series. The story is good but the narrator Mindy Kennedy makes this book a thousand times better!!! A narrator can totally kill a book and this is an example where the narrator just makes this book AMAZING!!! Great Job

Oh those hot cyborgs!

I loved this book in the Cyborg Seduction series! Each one of these stories is addictive and have unique storylines. Can't say enough good things about this series and the narration was excellent.

way too much gratuitous sex but...

I liked the essential plot. There are a few books in this series I could say the same for (the rest are dreck) but I liked the over-arching plot and am a little frustrated the author didn't continue this series - there is no resolution of the conflict

Touching Ice is touching fire

Genre: Erotica Sci-fi Romance

Main characters: Megan and Ice

Megan: Human female who monitors the workings of a whorehouse located in space. Although against the rules, she secretly watches Ice and his sexual antics and fantasizes about him. She is intelligent and caring and becomes protective of Ice.

Ice: Male Cyborg who frequents the whorehouse and is, unknowingly, the star in a human woman's fantasy. He has a dominant personality and exhibits a kind heart.

Synopsis:
Megan can admire from afar, but when a drunken captain smashes his ship into the floating whorehouse, she must find a way to escape death by exploding spaceship. As fate would have it, Ice and his other cyborg friends attempt to save as many sex-bots as they can (they have monetary value if returned as well as, well, other positive attributes *ahem* while in the cyborgs care). Megan runs into them, pretending to be an android so she can be saved as well (she believes cyborgs will kill a human on sight). Because Megan is a girl who makes the best out of any situation, she reprograms the sex-bots to respond to any of the other cyborgs except Ice, leaving herself to be the only one able to service him.

What does this book have?
The plot thickens and is more developed with this installment. The main characters are both under the impression that they are fooling the other, but it's no surprise that they end up falling for each other. This story is as fast-paced as the first (I skipped books) and the sex scenes are just as smoking hot.

As a series, the previous characters are mentioned, however, if there is interaction, it is minimal. I think these books could be read out of order. The advantages to reading them in order is that the events of each book overlap. So the ending of one book, told from the POV of the main couple in that book, is then revisited in the beginning of the next and told in the POV of the new couple. Additionally, like any other series, you are introduced to the characters in the previous books so it helps the reader understand that character more when their book comes around. Lastly, you get a better foundation of the world in which the series is written in. That being said, if you didn't read one installment the next one will introduce the events and you won't be lost. Also, from the story, you can deduce what the world is like as the writer does a good job of mentioning it with out belaboring the idea.

Narration
Narrator: Mindy Kennedy
Performance: 5/5
Speed: 1.25x
I like the consistency in the narrator and this narrator does a good job. She reads the human characters with an American accent and the cyborg characters along with other mechanical voices without emotion. I listened through my car speakers and with headphones and found her voice transitioned nicely to both.

Ok.. WOW! ICE!!!

Ice blew me away.. He was so romantic and Emotional for a Cyborg... I loved it. I felt so so sorry for him.

Ice is a breeding male, and has 28 cyborg babies because of the breeding cycle he is in with 12 other males... He is not in a family unit so he cannot claim NONE of the kids... Soooo sad!

Megan is a sex bot programmer and ends up needing a ride aboard Ice's ship when her ship is damaged... but she pretends to be a sex bot because she is scared of Cyborgs...

Ice knows she is human, but Megan just plays along... and willing becomes Ice's personal sex bot... then crab hits the fan when the O so evil Cyborg Councilman (Zorus) wants her killed.

By now, Ice and Megan have bonded and Ice refuse to kill her. The ending of this book, set up Coal and Zorus story...

I really liked how Megan and Ice became a Family unit, when neither one of them really wanted to be apart of a family...

Great Great! This book most definitely falls right after book 3 or takes place during the end action of book 3... like it is going on at the same time...

We also meet Sky in this book... Mann! I really hope Sky gets a book... he had like 5 lines, but boy I bet there is going to be a great story there...

Narration was awesome, yet again.. This is a great credit, buy or sale.

Ice and Megan - a good story

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Good as always, just wish she was a little better with men's voices.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Funny at times and thoughtful at others. Really liked Ice and Megan characters.

Any additional comments?

Seems all women by this author are 5 foot 2 or 3 inches tall. All men are huge everywhere and well over 6 plus feet tall. Wish there was more variation, but all in all, enjoyable.
