Veterinary intern Emily can't believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of in a Los Angeles clinic like she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship. Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn't just a laid-back doctor but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans.

"Shalvis tells a sexy, satisfying small-town love story." -(Kirkus)
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
If you buy just 1 book in this series, get this one. Best of the best. This is a funny, romance. Nothing heavy or dark, just great dialogue that can make a power walk fun. You must be in the mood to be entertained with good humor or you will miss it or NOT get it.
J.S. has taken time to write this book, and made sure all the elements in writing a good solid core romance is in this book.
Wyatt our hero. Gads, J.S. made him as hunky, sexy, and as sweet as can be. To have all three traits in a character takes great writing skills. I thought Rumor Has It was my fave, but "holy cow", this books lights you up at the first paragraph. Again, you have to be listening for the humor, you can not be multi tasking, or you will miss it. I had to re start this book 3 times and realized, go for a walk and really get to enjoy this listen.
I buy just about anything Ms White reads in a romance. Julie James series got me hooked on K.W. then I purchased all of this series too. Her male voices are just yummy and she makes them as hunky as these romance writers want them to be.
yes to both. this series is a good core romance read= leaves you feeling good and light hearted. Yes, you do realize there is a life lesson, but it does not come in the form of "darkness and then the light".
Enjoy and have some fun!
Absolutely. Jill Shalvis really shined in this one. Usually as a series goes along things start to go downhill but I really think this is the exception to the rule. Great story. Really well done.
As always she was great. Flawless performance.
It's hard to say without giving away important parts of the book and nobody likes spoilers but I will say yes, I was surprised when she left. I expected her to stay.
I really enjoyed this book. I'm not sure if it's one that I'll go back and listen to again, but it was very amusing and worth the credit!
One of my favorite authors doors it again! she has written an emotional read. It brought me to tears, made me laugh, and most importantly made my heart flutter!
I liked this one even better... Wyatt and Emily are both so darn cute! can't wait for the next one
I love this series for the combination of Jill Shalvis' amazing contemporary romance set in a animal oriented setting. It just makes for incredible reading. I don't usually listen to her books on audio, but my reading time has been taken lately with the books I have to review so I've gotten where I add the books I'm dying to read onto my audio pile. And her writing was just as good in audio...thanks to the incredible narration of Karen White. Wow...she's an awesome narrator. This book has a HUGE cast of characters and not once did any of them sound even similar. Her voice repertoire must be massive. Truly, she was excellent and I will search out more narrated books by her in the future.
But back to the story. Sweet, fun, so incredibly sexy...yep, this was definitely a Jill Shalvis novel. She just does not make a mis-step. I loved both Emily and Wyatt and their out-spoken, don't-mind-their-own-business siblings who simply don't want to see either of them hurt again. Because with the set-up with these two, someone...probably two someone's...going to get hurt. Emily is only in Sunshine for a year internship. She's an LA girl. Never planned to leave and she sure didn't want to go to Idaho. But that was her only choice. So when she arrives, she's already counting down her 365 day sentence.
But what she doesn't count on in Idaho is Wyatt, her one night stand...really freaking hot, knocked her socks off...one night stand who she thought she'd never see again. Oh, and yeah...now he's her supervisor since she has to shadow him in the vet clinic everyday. And Wyatt...he's oh-so-yummy and alpha and sexy and did I mention yummy? Yeah, Jill Shalvis knows how to write her heroes. So sexy!!
It's a great book, an easy, entertaining read, and there's even a bit of suspense and danger toward the end...LOVE that.
The book is by Jill Shalvis...so honestly...enough said. Read her. She writes consistently good contemporary romance, heroes that will melt your heart, and heroines that are so easily relatable that you can't help but feel empathy for them. Her books are phenomenal...and this one was, too.
The Animal Magnetism series is a decent series to follow. This was another okay read where the action with the animals pulled me through when the story got slow for the characters. It's not a bad book but for some reason I needed a little more then this and stopped in the beginning to find something else. I came back later. This is sweet and predictable but funny, and the animals always steal the show for me. I want to see who the characters will be for the next book.
Jill Shalvis writes such entertaining books. This was my 5th and each one never disappoints. Love, love, loo ice the Animal magnetism series - can't wait for more :)
Say something about yourself!
Yes. I'll read the full Animal Magnetism series again.
No one favorite. I loved Wyatt, Emily, Darcy and Emily's sister.
The last when Emily was a mess.
Yes or over two days.
