Publisher's summary

No one had ever looked at her and seen perfection - until now.

Delicate, titian-haired Theresa Noble has met her father’s associates in the past, but the gorgeous, Italian-born Sandro De Lucci leaves her speechless. Eighteen months into their marriage, however, Sandro has turned to ice. Desperate to escape a relationship that has proven to be as stubbornly passionate as it is cold and hateful, Theresa summons up the courage to ask for a divorce. But before he’ll grant her request, Sandro demands something from Theresa: a son.

The stalemate sickens her. Never mind that Sandro has yet to introduce Theresa to the large family that means so much to him. Or that Theresa overhears her husband on the phone with a mystery woman. Most damning is that Theresa senses, in Sandro’s treatment of her, the behind-the-scenes machinations of Jackson Noble, her cruel father. From the depths of her anxiety, Theresa must seek an empowering truth about the husband who calls her, with such cold affection, his cara, his beloved.

Loved the Story still!

The Unwanted Wife is one of my favorite books to reread. However, i have not listened to the audio until now. The story is as good as i remembered and while the narrator's male voice could be improved it didn't distract from the emotional weights of the story.

The Angst!!

I could not stop listening to this audiobook. I just wanted to keep going till I reached the end.

Alessandro is pretty cruel (verbally) to Theresa for supposedly trapping him into marriage (by way of her father). However she was completely unaware of that manipulation. She's now ready to leave him and their marriage but then he learns, fairly quickly, that she only married him for love and had zero idea of what her father did.

Now Alessandro is desperate to get his wife back and make her fall in love with him again.

Okay

I felt so bad for Theresa. It felt like her father and Husband were just overly cruel to her. I did like the fact the the H tried to make his bad behavior up to her. He did work hard at it. I didn't like him calling her a B. He deserved everything she dished out to him. The story took too long to end. After he professed his love for her, the book should have ended. I think a writer should be careful in making their characters too mean, nice, sympathetic, etc. When they are too much of something, it makes you focus on the attribute and less on their other qualities. I spent the majority of this book feeling sorry for Theresa wishing her husband and father would leave her alone to be happy. It was hard for me to see the romance because of Thersa's victimization by her father and husband. The author made her too much of a victim. It took away from the love story between the characters.

A Little Too Long

What did you like best about The Unwanted Wife? What did you like least?

The premise of the novel, in general, was good, but the storyline dragged on. If the author had perhaps removed a few thousand words from the manuscript, then the action would increase, making the reader perk up. As for my personal dislike--the reader's voice when she switched to the male.

Would you be willing to try another book from Natasha Anders? Why or why not?

I'm hesitant to buy another book by Anders for fear I will find the same problems: the plot dragged on and could be made more concise, which would create more interest. And I personally had a problem with the narrator's voice when she changed her voice for the male "speaker."

What is with the accent?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

If I could I would change how the book was narrated. Its very distracting from the book on the whole, making the audio form not as favorable as it should be.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Unwanted Wife?

The most memorable moment is the first time Theresa let loose and just did what she wanted for the day finally.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Justine Eyre?

Of course.

Do you think The Unwanted Wife needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Maybe needs a follow-up. Don't know if its worth it though.

love it ... spoiler alert!!!

Finally .... a book where the h gives the H s*** longer the a few days or weeks because he treated her like s*** for a year and a half. The things he did and said to her was so mean it was crazy there's no way I could have stayed married for 1 1/2 yrs to him, but she did give him h*** for about the same time (about 1 1/4 yr ) nothing he did or said fixed it and he did try he never gave up. I liked him for that. I honestly believe he deserved to be treated the same way he treated her, but time and constantly showing her he did care and loved her finally paid off it was really realistic because you can't fix what you broke over night, it takes time and hard work to earn the trust and love the H abused.

I love Justin Eyre, story made me mad

Female main character truly was overlooked. Definitely good writing, I was crying throughout the story, but I feel like the fmc should have gotten the divorce she deserved and either the husband or someone else needed to actually work to earn her. she got screwed. I wouldn't wish that life on anyone, talk about Stockholm.

The narrator

I love Justine Eyre however I had a hard time with the accent on this one. Are they supposed to be American? English? Half Italian? Where is that accent from. Man I had a hard time with it. The story didn’t help so much left unsaid and I still have not fully come to grips with all that happened

Pass This One Along - Unwanted Book

What did you like best about The Unwanted Wife? What did you like least?

.
I am not sure what I was looking for or expecting from this book but whatever it was it was not there for me. The summary perfectly explains the first half of the book...but the 2nd half takes a 180 degree turn.

The Theresa has been married to the Sandro De Luca for 18 months and he just wants to have sex with her as a means to an end. There are no gentle kisses or any sort of affection. She knows it is because he wants a son and shortly finds out later exactly why he wants a son.

He is described as this cold and hateful man and she the ever-loving, kind woman who is in love with her Sandro.

Until about 18 months after they're married she has decided that she has had enough and she asks for a divorce. From then on we find she's pregnant and he begins to warm up to her. It was a complete 180 and didn't really make any sense, why-what was the point? The ending was predictable and I'm not sure why there is a follow up unless it is to give Sandro' POV.

Justine Ayres narration, which is usually great, was very confusing to me. I was not sure if this was a historical romance or a contemporary one. The characters all had accents from Italy or Scotland, but a few clues did help me understand that it was a contemporary work.

Notes Mature themes & a few cuss words

Credit worthy/$: No way, I think that I may return this one
