Publisher's summary

No one had ever looked at her and seen perfection - until now.

Delicate, titian-haired Theresa Noble has met her father’s associates in the past, but the gorgeous, Italian-born Sandro De Lucci leaves her speechless. Eighteen months into their marriage, however, Sandro has turned to ice. Desperate to escape a relationship that has proven to be as stubbornly passionate as it is cold and hateful, Theresa summons up the courage to ask for a divorce. But before he’ll grant her request, Sandro demands something from Theresa: a son.

The stalemate sickens her. Never mind that Sandro has yet to introduce Theresa to the large family that means so much to him. Or that Theresa overhears her husband on the phone with a mystery woman. Most damning is that Theresa senses, in Sandro’s treatment of her, the behind-the-scenes machinations of Jackson Noble, her cruel father. From the depths of her anxiety, Theresa must seek an empowering truth about the husband who calls her, with such cold affection, his cara, his beloved.

Wonderful..

Any additional comments?

I was a little skeptical about this book at first but it turned into a really good story. I loved Sandro and Theresa and could understand her hesitancy in trusting him again, but it did take her until, almost, the end of the book to do it. It was a good story and the sex was exciting and touching, after he decided to kiss her, and that was a long time coming!!
This is my first book by Ms. Anders but I would definitely read her again.

As to the narrator: I really like Ms. Eyre's reading but I think I prefer her with an British accent. She seemed to mispronounce a lot of words but not enough to take away from the book. I would never hesitate to listen to Justine Eyre's narration, even though all her male voices sound the same at least they sound like men, unlike a lot of the female narrators.

Horrible narration

Would you try another book from Natasha Anders and/or Justine Eyre?

I've read this entire series and I love the stories but the narration is killing me. What accent is this supposed to be? I've actually just started but not sure I can survive even chapter 1. Such a shame as I wanted to re-read the series with audio.

Love love love

I really love the narrator and the story as well. Narrator does a good job with multiple voices and giving emotion to charactrrs. At times I didn't like Teresa's unwillingness to forgive and accept Sandro ' s help. I think that went on a bit too long. Otherwise it is a great read and listen I have done both.

Loved the Story still!

The Unwanted Wife is one of my favorite books to reread. However, i have not listened to the audio until now. The story is as good as i remembered and while the narrator's male voice could be improved it didn't distract from the emotional weights of the story.

The Angst!!

I could not stop listening to this audiobook. I just wanted to keep going till I reached the end.

Alessandro is pretty cruel (verbally) to Theresa for supposedly trapping him into marriage (by way of her father). However she was completely unaware of that manipulation. She's now ready to leave him and their marriage but then he learns, fairly quickly, that she only married him for love and had zero idea of what her father did.

Now Alessandro is desperate to get his wife back and make her fall in love with him again.

Pass This One Along - Unwanted Book

What did you like best about The Unwanted Wife? What did you like least?

.
I am not sure what I was looking for or expecting from this book but whatever it was it was not there for me. The summary perfectly explains the first half of the book...but the 2nd half takes a 180 degree turn.

The Theresa has been married to the Sandro De Luca for 18 months and he just wants to have sex with her as a means to an end. There are no gentle kisses or any sort of affection. She knows it is because he wants a son and shortly finds out later exactly why he wants a son.

He is described as this cold and hateful man and she the ever-loving, kind woman who is in love with her Sandro.

Until about 18 months after they're married she has decided that she has had enough and she asks for a divorce. From then on we find she's pregnant and he begins to warm up to her. It was a complete 180 and didn't really make any sense, why-what was the point? The ending was predictable and I'm not sure why there is a follow up unless it is to give Sandro' POV.

Justine Ayres narration, which is usually great, was very confusing to me. I was not sure if this was a historical romance or a contemporary one. The characters all had accents from Italy or Scotland, but a few clues did help me understand that it was a contemporary work.

Notes Mature themes & a few cuss words

Credit worthy/$: No way, I think that I may return this one

An intriguing story and performance

I found The Unwanted Wife to be a fascinating listen. It has many of the usual elements of a romantic novel that make them so much fun: intense emotion, sensuality and focus on a troubled relationship between a married couple. Even though the couple are, of course, amazingly beautiful and rich, there is a true sense of the extreme emotional challenge the two of them have to resolve in order to get to the HEA that is pretty rare to find in a romantic novel. I found myself thinking of people I know who have struggled to get past the preconceptions and their upbringings to find happiness, not just with love, but with children and the course of their own lives. The Unwanted Wife really illustrates the difficulty of learning to trust others and grow after having been wounded by someone important.

I also was truly amazed by Justine Eyre's narration. I don't know what her background is, but I've listened to her narrate English regency books that had me pretty sure she has lived in England, but this book is related with a South African accent that now has me wondering where she's from.

One of my fave stories, but .....

I loved reading this book so I was excited to hear it was on audible. However, I was very disappointed. Not because of the story itself, but I did not like the narrator. So much so that I decided I wasn't going to listen to it.
