Publisher's summary

The 1940s: hard-boiled detectives and femmes fatale are box-office gold. In one iconic scene, set in a deserted museum, the private eye arrives too late, and the buxom beauty is throttled by an ominous Egyptian priest.

Now: the Black Box Cinema immortalizes Hollywood’s Golden Age in its gallery of film-noir tributes. But the mannequin of that Egyptian priest is hardly lifeless. He walks - and a young starlet dies a terrifying death.

Movie mogul Eddie Archer’s son is charged with the grisly murder. Eddie calls agent Sean Cameron, who specializes in… irregular investigations. As part of an FBI paranormal forensics team, Cameron knows that nightmares aren’t limited to the silver screen.

Working with special-effects artist Madison Darvil - who has her own otherworldly gifts - Cameron delves into the malevolent force animating more than one movie monster.

Good, solid series.

I liked The Unseen, but I liked this one better. The story is an interesting one, the paranormal mixed in with the special effects of movies. There are a lot of good suspects. a little romance, everything that makes a good Heather Graham book. I love Luke Daniels, he's one of my favorite narrators.

good story - womens voices could be improved

I wish the womens voices were more powerful and less little girl quiet. it is almost like the female voices are being made fun of with the way they are portrayed

Disappointed at the end

The story was “okay”, the performance saved the day. The story progressed nicely, but the ghosts talk too much, and the ending was a huge letdown. I figured out “who” before the end, it’s the way it all played out the that was the disappointment. Overall it wasn’t too bad, just not the author’s best work.

Couldn't get into the character

I really liked the mystery of this one, but I didn’t really like Madison. She is just fine as a character, but I just couldn’t figure out why all the other characters thought she was so great. Her chemistry with Sean was good and didn’t feel like it came out of the blue.

I liked learning more about Sean’s background but would have liked to have seen more of his team involved in the book. The supernatural aspect is there – just didn’t really add to the book the way I would have liked. Also, the whole Bogey thing was just lame. The author really did a good job of linking this book to the next one.

Here is my issue with this series and this is the second one it has happened in. The author introduces a great supporting character with a laid-back personality in one book and then turns them into a total alpha leader male in the next book. The narrator then follows suit and changes the voice to match another character and it is just a mess when listening to it. It first happened with Jake and now with Sean.

The Unholy

When meet yup with ghosts, who wouldn't live to hangout with Humphrey Bogart, affectionately known ad Bogey. Murder staged in a special effects movie arena amid a myriad of movie costumes and props. Creepy underground tunnels filled with centuries of dead and decaying corpses. Who wouldn't love this intense murder mystery! The Krewe is at it again! ❤

This narrator is quite trying to listen to

This would have been a nice easy listen but for the narrator. As he changes his voice to a female character he drops down in volume so much that I found myself having to turn up the volume or miss the words. For a while I would go back but that is a real hassle if I’m driving. So I just missed a lot of what was said. I will try to avoid purchasing books read by this narrator in the future.

The front cover was better than the story.

Not what I expected with the main bad guy mad because his mom didn't marry a man with a large inheritance. Vengeance striking out against people who had nothing to do with the man who died on set. The the story was a bunch of none sense. Of course every good male character is 6'2-6'7 with a gravelly voice while being built like a linebacker. Now the narration was fine work performed by Luke Daniels. If I would have read this book instead of listening it's a 2 out of 5. The narration brings it up a notch to a 3 but nothing beyond that.
