Critic reviews

"Wiggs’s talent is reflected in her thoroughly believable characters as well as the way she recognizes the importance of family by blood or other ties. Highly recommended.” ( Library Journal)

Unexpected and wonderful!

I love this one of the Lakeshore Chronicles…..to find another branch of the Belem family, and all the further adventures to come! The treatment of end of life issues was well written. I have lived all the books so far, but this one ranks up there!

Great way to view end of life

Love the way the respectful end of life for a terminal person was handled. But disappointed the parallel crime story was “tied up with a bow” which was unrealistic. Also, kind of horrified to find the elderly dying character was kind of a jerk when he was young! Overall, kept my interest!

Enjoyable

I selected one of the books the Lakeshore series on a lark from my local library and have gone on to read/listen to the entire Lakeshore Chronicles series. It's and enjoyable series when you are looking for light, easy reading/listening.

Moving tale ell told

I am sitting in front of my fireplace with gentle tears flowing down my face. The story of George Bellamy, his grandson, and the many other characters of the Avalon community is compelling and deeply moving. I had thought it would be morbid and clinging, but found instead a gripping, thrilling mystery, and many twists and turns in this elegant gentleman's battle with a vicious medical reality. It is the best of this author's stories to date and well worth reading. I highly recommend
