Publisher's summary

For every woman who has ever loved - and never forgotten.

Michelle Turner thought she lost everything at 17. Her father, a Hollywood legend, had finally summoned her to his Montana ranch. But when he learned of her affair with Sam McPhee, a hired hand, he had Sam fired and destroyed his family. Michelle, pregnant and alone, fled to Seattle.

Now a successful advertising exec, Michelle is safe-safe from love, safe from hurt. But her son is lost to her, a troubled teen on the verge of self-destruction, a boy who blames her for the absence of his father and grandfather.

And then her father calls to tell her he is dying. He has only one chance to live - if she will donate a kidney to save him.

For her sick father, she must bridge the gulf that distance and time have widened. For her son, she must find the miracle that will pull him away from the abyss that threatens his future. And for Sam, the man who left her years ago, she must face all the secrets of the past and find a way to heal the scars and love again.

Trust and reward

This was a story of hidden love, deceit, well meaning and wrong intentions. Great story. Developing trust..is its own reward.

A captivating story of many second chances

This is my first Susan Wiggs book. Her writing style is flows perfectly as the events unfold. I found myself rooting for the characters and enjoyed how the book ending. Natalie’s narrator was perfect! She really brought the character and stories to life.

Great story

Male voiced parts were not good at all.
Needed a man’s voice and it would have been a great book.

REALLY LIKED!

Another "don't want to put down" book! Great story line and the reader had a good voice. However, I didn't like the way she changed her voice to try and get a "male" voice....too FAKE!

Redemption and Love

I especially enjoyed the narration. Each character was believable. The story line kept me interested and wanting to hear more.

I hate the narration on this book

The voice of the narrator is so dry and drawn out it was a strain to get through the first 10 minutes. I usually enjoy audio books and I am a big Susan Wiggs fan, but I can’t stand Nauru’s ‘s delivery on this book. I will read the book instead. 😥

Little to long

This story would have been good but was too explanatory shortening it up some completely boring parts

Struggled to Keep Listening

The story - I am a fan of the author, but these characters are selfish, immature and hard to like. Rather than navigate life’s conflicts, they run, avoid, lie. It’s hard to connect. Michelle’s parenting i(I use the term loosely) lacks any deep investment. I found the characters and the plot rather two dimensional.
The narrator- I’m still a little unnerved by the breathy end inflections, the odd way she shifts to a low, strange voice when narrating men. Every last word in a sentence is followed by a sigh of air. I’m still annoyed! It was hard to concentrate on the story and definitely made every male character sound the same.
If this had been my first audio book by the author, it may have been the last!

good but not favorite

Susan Wiggs is one of my favorite authors. While this book was good, it was not one of her best works
