Publisher's summary

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different - more serious, more personal - and she's sure it'll be her breakout book…if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora's fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: He wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards - in six weeks - or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining…and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous - staying away from him…or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

Terrible Narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of The Siren to be better than the print version?

NO, the print version is excellent. The only good audible versions of Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners are The Saint and The King narrated by Elizabeth Hart.

What did you like best about this story?

Eleanor ,Søren and Kingsley.

How could the performance have been better?

Elizabeth Hart as narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Couldn't finish the audible version. The print version was excellent.

Any additional comments?

Use Elizabeth Hart for the rest of the Original Sinners...The Virgin and The Queen.

Hard to enjoy because of the reader.

Would you try another book from Tiffany Reisz and/or Aeron James?

I would try another Tiffany Reisz book, but not another book read by Aeron James.

What didn’t you like about Aeron James’s performance?

He is really bad at accents (although his own is rather nice).

Torn and speechless

Not sure how to rate this. I was torn with the decisions of the characters and kept hoping for better for all of them. But I gave my rating based on the full story as written not how I’d done it. Really worried how I’ll manage the next books as this was difficult to complete. But i need to know how it ends for them.

Wow 🤩

This book wasn’t anything I thought it would be. It’s the first one that I’ve read that didn’t end with the HEA I was expecting. It made me laugh, tear up and wonder what just happened?

I didn’t care for the narrator and his tone sometimes made it hard to follow the story, and likely what made me give it a four star rating.

All in all it’s worth the listen, but not if you’re “vanilla”. 😂

Intense and absorbing

This is the story of an erotica writer who is determined to work with a challenging literary editor in an effort to turn her latest work into something more -- something better. Their relationship is the fulcrum of the novel, and it is through the eyes of the editor that we are able to see into her world with an almost unflinching view.

I'll admit that it's taking me a while to process my thoughts on this one. The psychological and emotional dynamics between the characters were fascinating. The author has created a work of fiction that IS something more. By the end you understand the deeper needs of the main character -- and given the subject matter, that is an amazing feat handled deftly and with compassion.

I couldn't stop listening to this story, needing to know what would happen next, but I had to pace myself because it was very visceral and I found myself immersed in the story at odd times during the day, whether listening or not.

(I'll admit that when it came to the more intense scenes of S/M, I felt myself recoil, but those scenes, while powerful, are not frequent.)

My only caveat, and it is a small one, is due to the reader. He was excellent when portraying the voice of the editor, which is a large part of the story. But his interpretation of Nora was unfortunate. He made a sexy, teasing woman sound evil and threatening more often than not, and I found myself wishing for a female voice worthy of Nora's personality. Still, it did not overwhelm my enjoyment of the book.

I know there are sequels to this one, but I'm going to need a little time before I take the next one on. I hope it's as good as the first.

Nora, Nora, Nora!

Would you listen to The Siren again? Why?

Yes! I never listen to books twice but I really would listen to The Siren again. There are so many stories in this book, and knowing how the each end up would make it better to catch the little details of them throughout. Plus I fell in love with Nora's character. There is so much you never get to find out about her that leaves you wanting more yet still grateful for what you do know.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nora. So complex and strong and mature yet at the same time young and fragile and carefree and immature. I just fell in love with her. And while I still don't understand why she needs what she needs from Soren, I trust that she does.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Zach comes to the church to have her unlock his handcuff and she shares Soren's point of view on all of the religious art with him. Being Catholic, it was very thought provoking. This whole book was so intelligent - far beyond your standard romance / erotica books.

Any additional comments?

Very impressed. It would impossible for this book to be "this" book without all of the explicit erotica, but the story and the clever, intelligent writing elevate it far beyond your typical erotica / romance reads. It isn't for everyone but I found it to be smply stunning.

I am worthy of your credit without a doubt!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended this to my friends because it keeps you so engrossed. There is a lot of love in this book, twisted love but love all the same. Nora is a spit fire and I love her attitude, what a woman.

Have you listened to any of Aeron James’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love the Narrator in this book did the voices and feelings great, wish all the series used the same person.

Nora and Her Men

I'm a sucker for a British accent. Listening to the narrator has me making plans to visit London - like very soon. The Story is hand downs my favorite book in the series ( so far ) and the narration catapulted it even higher if its possible. Aeron James narration of all the characters is a great way to spend a lazy afternoon with Mistress Nora and Zach and Wes and Soren and Michael. You get the picture...…#GreatListen

Enjoyable bdsm fluff

I enjoyed the premise of this book immensely. It was a fun read and one that I found myself looking forward to. It is certainly more realistic than the Grey series and treats the "Scene" with more insight and understanding than most other mainstream books. No one seemed to try to "cure" anyone of their disease.

The characters were pleasing and believable, except for the seemingly general acceptance of the main character's behavior. I could visualize the characters and scenes in my head and found their descriptions quite plausible.

Aeron James narration was suberb and really brought the story to life. I would recommend this to anyone in the lifestyle and even quite a few who aren't familiar!
